A "good" football season

The issue is that with their transfers and roster turnover ASU is an even bigger wildcard than this Wyoming team. Their floor could be the worst team in P5, and their ceiling could be ???

The only way i'll be concerned is if we get our doors blown off. Any other result and I think we'll need a few more weeks to judge where this team is.
Personally, I think this Wyoming team is capable of challenging for a MWC championship this year. With that in mind, I expect them to beat teams like ASU even on the road.

Now, if ASU goes undefeated and ends up a playoff team, I’ll admit expecting a win in Tempe was probably expecting a little much. I just don’t think that scenario is likely.

Maybe I’m expecting too much from this Wyoming team. Im just tired of the idea that we should be OK with losing games on the road to P5 teams just because they have more money to throw around, ‘better’ players, and are in some ‘superior’ conference. Oh, and it will probably be hot. In my mind, we have the better players…just show up, kick their ass, and enjoy the plane ride back to Laramie.

This. 100,000% this. Thank you!

If we get smoked by ASU, we should be concerned. My point is that these are games we need to win to take the next step towards being considered a "good" team (same with BYU). Good teams win these sorts of games and beat the doors off of teams like North Texas. Middlin' teams celebrate moral victories and settle in for the New Mexico and Arizona (or whatever it is now) Bowls.
I think that pretty much describes the pokes the last few years.. Varying versions of "middling". That's not nothing.... But it gets old always looking up at Boise and the rotating cast of SDSU, Fresno, and UNLV.

Watched a Boise show on YouTube (I was really bored and wanted to get a feel for how they think they’ll do) and they think they’re going 11-1 or 10-2 losing to only Oregon but they are really worried about the Laramie game. Wyoming has played well the last 3 times in Laramie. Lost on a fg and then Clemons threw the pick the next time.

We are a fairly tough home out.

They should be worried.

I'm cautiously optimistic this season. Breath of fresh air on offense and continuity on defense. Lots of experience etc. should stack up for a great season. Beating byu in what may be last time we ever play those pukes in Laramie would be a success. Winning at ASU would be a success. Keeping the streak going against the sheep would be a success. In all honesty, those things all add up and we could be looking at a really special season in year one under Coach Sawvel.

Yikes...let the concern begin.
