A few thoughts from the press conference...

Was told we have 1 scholarship left, Greg Barksdale, OLB from Illinois committed to Northern Illinois instead of UW. I guess it was mentioned Ian Watts will recieve a scholarship (that counts toward this class). JaMichael Hall is done for his career, Coach C supposedly himself told all in attendance that his injury was bad.

Other than that...we'll see in 2 - 3 years, just how good the class is. Bells, Stars, Moons, and Clovers...rating systems aside...you just never know.

Dapokes...did you attend? Thoughts? Your dime?

Also, anyone know if the highly recruited WR from last year, Alo Moli, (that went on a mormon mission) will be at UW this summer / fall? I thought I heard that somewhere. Anyone?

Yeah buddy.. I meant to pm you about talking to you if you went to the presser. I was the guy in the second row with the hat on.

ANYWAYS, I meant to ask DC (after that idiot brought up the "tenure" question...which I'm going to assume that wasn't you. I hope it wasn't, at least.):

1-why so many dbs?
Well after seeing the film...it answered itself...I was most impressed with Huff. Talk about a potential play-maker on D from day 1...I thought McElveen was the HEAD-HUNTER that this D needs...and that Daniels is a ball-hawk behing Huff. I had no idea that Huff placed 4th at the 5A state high-jump in TEXAS.

2-Who do you see making an immediate impact on O-LINE?
Well I spoke to the O-LINE coach who told me that hands down...Nick Puetz is the guy. I really like what I saw from speaking to that coach... I asked him how he went about recruiting our OL. He tells them that not only can they compete for a spot sooner than later, but that he tells them that he'll do that for every class after them...so if they aren't up for competition...he doesn't want them.

3.Out of the new pokes, who do you see making this D transition better from 3-4 to 4-3?
I have thought about this for a little...and you could go with the 2 frosh DEs (Lange, Puletasi). My answer to this is the MUNICH COWBOY! Dude has 4.5 speed and it showed on that film. What a get! No wonder they're moving Knapton to DE with the speed and coverage-ability he helps in the middle. This guy can run with the TEs and RBs in this conf. Very under-the-radar. McPeach, did you love that comment that was made about catching up to the rest of some teams in this conf by having a 22yr old freshman?

I'm just scratchin the tip of the iceberg ppl....this is an excellent class...I haven't even gotten to my favorite player from this class

Fire away with the questions...it's all pretty fresh in my mind right now.

BTW, I just gotta say the presentation of the recruiting film looked much more professional than how it has been done in years past. I hope DC puts that presentation up on his site.

OL? How did they look? Some good new horses to keep ACS upright?

This RB from Canada... speedy? Montana had a RB from this same HS a couple of years ago, he went on to play in the CFL.

A big deal was made about the transfers WRs from Snow.. they going to be worth the buzz?

-Offensive Line-
From what I heard in speaking to the OL coach...he said that out of the freshman recruits...he's got BIG expectations for Travis Bogard. I really liked all of the size and athleticism of all the OL guys we got. He also said that in becoming more athletic with this class, look for the line to spread out more (which they had to move closer together last year while installing the new O for some linemen)

-Kankolongo-
This guy is SPECIAL, guys. Thats not something I throw around too often when it comes to runningbacks...normally I'll use the adjectives "solid", "shifty", "studly"...but for this specific guy...he's gonna be something to remember from this class. If you cant tell already, this guy is my personal favorite commitment we had. He's already on campus. He wants to be here. He is the definition of a hard worker. The coaches said that he called wyo to ask if he could come to the camp. He didn't have enough money at the time for travel, so he got a job at McDonalds just so he could pay for a greyhound bus he took from BC to Laramie. He arrived in Laramie for summer camp at 3AM and was padded up and impressing coaches at 1PM. I hadn't seen his film yet but had seen all of his stats (the 200+yd 4TD performance in the BC championship game) The coach presenting his film also mentioned that he's been outlifting everyone in his group and has been the most competitive player in their OFFSEASON program...just from lifting...not even drills...just lifting. After seeing his film, I'm convinced that this kid feels like he has a lot to prove to the college football world.

-Snow Wide Receivers-
They are definitely worth the buzz. They're on campus and after watching all the film, I'm not so sure that Lester shouldn't be considered a 3-star along with Ogbonna. Look, these guys are gonna make a lot of fans forget about the headache that was last year's spring scrimmages and spring game drops. They are up to par with what you'd expect in a spread offense to be competitive in this conference. Ogbonna looked more polished than Lester...but Lester also looked a little like T.O. with his long-stride streaking down the field (6'2 and a very solid 200lbs-averaged 17ypc for Snow last season). They're even more worth the hype because we got them both as a tandem.

-Backing up ACS-
Well I've like what Stratton has to offer as a backup...but obviously he'll redshirt.

I really liked what I saw from watching all of Emory Miller. He's is what the coaches called "the definition of a dual-threat qb". He's lightning-fast and can also throw very nice. I can't wait to see him throw at spring drills. I'd say he's already a slightly better option over Robert Benjamin. I expect Emory to be just a whole different qb than Rob...more decisive.

I'm more comfortable knowing that Dax isn't our backup option to ACS...that would just hold this offense back.

If anything, we're gonna remember this guy for his name. That's a mouthful to pronounce! I hope he turns out to be as good as you make him.

hey guys! Great conversation! Keep up the chatter! I have to read something while I watch the beat down UNLV is giving our BB team.

I forgot to mention that the german looked pretty tough! I love the clip of him leveling the RB and the QB in one motion.

I'm glad I really can't stand basketball and couldn't care less about Wyoming's teams in that dreadful sport :)

Kankolongo could turn out to be awesome. I really liked the highlight video from his junior year. Hopefully he's even better nowadays!

Don't even get me started on that bball game. I feel like I wasted my night on going to that game...

Anyways, you guys should've seen all the coaches faces light up when Nehemie Kankolongo's film came up. You could definitely tell there is something that is going to be unleashed come spring ball. Hope Alvester fixes his fumbling or you will be seeing Kankolongo starting. He's that good. There is a reason why his name is mentioned first in the handout given.

So what will happen between Kankolongo and Alexander are they both speed backs or do we have another thunder n lightning on our hands :)

I didn't make the conference, had some "streaming issues" so watched some on the net, and talked to a buddy. I have pulled a few douchebaggish moves in the past...but nothing like that cat and his "how long will you coach here" question...gotta give me more credit than that! :o

I was told that the coach that introduced him said he called and actually asked if he could attend the UW football camp...and that they told him of course, but it was all up to him. Then he supposedly proceded to get an extra job, at a McDonalds, just to pay for his bus ticket to get here?!? That is dedication, drive, and desire!! Gotta love that!

Kankolongo supposedly has great breakaway speed, but he's also strong and already making a statement in workouts, which would indicate to me that he might be packing on some muscle to be able to do the power running as well. He already sat at 5'11, 200 before coming here, which isn't bad, but obviously not a power build either. If he can pack on another 25 lbs, though, then we might be talking, hehe...

I'm very curious to see what he can do at the collegiate level. Canadian high school football doesn't quite hold the same level as it does here, but he still took his team to the championship there, so you obviously can't get any better!

The player I'm the most curious about, though, is the German Panzer. In his highlight reels, he runs pretty funny, but he's definitely fast for his size and seems to get to the ball carrier fast.

I think They will both do wel who wouldve thought we had an international pipeline
I kind of like that we do. There's always the outside chance that we grab somebody awesome that others have missed out on just because there's not much information available. I think it's definitely an interesting path to take as long as we don't take it to the extreme.

There's been a few Swedish kickers who were recruited by colleges like Appalachian State who eventually ended up in the NFL, for example. I don't think any of them were very successful in the long run, but if you're good enough to kick in the NFL for even a couple of seasons, you should be good to go in college at least! I know several people I grew up with who could easily have kicked at Wyoming - they would've been able to get the ball through the endzone without a problem, at least. Heck, I could have as well, although we had decent kickers when I was enrolled ;)

Back in the 80s my brother helped start a team that plays in the Swedish league. They are called Skövde Dukes and have so far contributed with 3 NCAA Div 1 players, I believe, hehe... I am waiting for the day when one of them ends up with Cowboys. My dear brother often wears his Cowboys sweatshirts and hats to their games and practices, and he's given the team tapes from Wyoming practices before that Glenn was more than happy to provide, so who knows? Somebody might be interested. They play with adults, and some of these guys are very athletic, they're just missing some of the skills that a high school player here might have. What's exciting is that Dukes and other Swedish teams finally have youth teams going down as far as U13, so you know they will get better and better talent.

I don't follow Swedish football at all (nor Swedish soccer for that matter), but I do know that these kids are a LOT better than the ones I saw playing in the early 90s.
