A couple of Brett Smith articles

It definitely worked out the way it was supposed to, but I would disagree with the two star rating he had. Kind of interesting how the golden boy of Brett's recruiting class, Colt Lyerla, left the Ducks and signed with an agent. Talent is pretty important, but having heart and a good head on your shoulders can be a great equalizer. It's still pretty awesome to see how loved he is in WYO...it was an equally good move for the Cowboys and for Brett I'd say.

Hahaha Brett isn't leaving people....For like the billionth time.

And there is no doubt I am heading to the game in Eugene. Maybe some of you wyonation folk can sleep on my BeaverPoke couch in Corvallis.

I think I may have got an STD just from reading that sentence, let alone from actually sleeping on any such couch.

It doesn't matter how many times you say it. This all depends on the people at the NFL. If he's projected top 3 rounds of the draft, it would be extremely difficult for him to say no.

Actually, I think the Cowboys got the better end of the deal. With all due respect to the other players, if Brett didn't show up we would be totally screwed. I can't see the 2 star rating either. Many high school players get low ratings or missed altogether. But it wasn't like Brett was an unknown (Player of the Year, etc.). They had to have seen him.

I read an article that said Brett was told he could walk on at Oregon State, but didn't hear anything at all from Oregon.

Yep, and that's why Jake Locker didn't come back for his senior year. Oh wait, he did.
But seriously, that's why Barkley left when he did from USC. Oh wait....he came back too.

Some people don't play for the millions of dollars. Some people play, and stay because it is the right thing to do.

If Brett Smith gets the offer, he will make the decision on leaving or not. I'm not even sure what his college major is at this point. What he does on the field is just unbelieveable. This seems like a topic that we should be debating in the off-season. In the mean time, we should be thinking about how many points we should put up on CSU tomorrow! I think its time to beat the 44-0 - say 70-0 :)

Even if you are a QB projected to go in the first 3 rounds, would it be smart to go? It's not like a linebacker or defensive secondary man. There is only ONE QB on the field at a time. Think it would be Smith right away? Very doubtful. He would most likely get very little playing time (but a lot of $$) - the first year anyway. Better to stay and get more experience on the college fields.

The NFL draft talk I think is premature at this point. Let's see how the season plays out. Too many variables right now. What if Brett has a terrible 2nd half of the season? What if he has an even better 2nd half? Let's wait and see.

Enjoy the ride, whether it be half a season or another season and half, one of the best QB in country, the best QB in WYO history. I will cheer for him no matter what next year whether it be for the pokes or my fierce rival in the NFL. Damn glad we got him. Meow I hope he puts up 70 tomorrow ;)

Brett Smith seems to me like the type of person that his parents explained how important a good education is and how football will always be there the next year so I'm not sold that he would just take off. It's hard to pass up on that type of an offer but kids do it all the time to graduate.
