Saw Brett's Dad tweet these out.. one of them is Brett being a top QB prospect in the 2014 draft behind Bridgewater from Louisville (sound the alarms!!!).

Now, half of wyonation is going to freak out and think he is leaving.....

Just you young farts are. Us old sumbitches have been through plenty of leaving early & change...

Leaving early is not always the best option. Ask Alvester Alexander how that can turn out.

Especially for QBs. Some of the greats did not achieve their best years until they were in their 30's (John Elway and Peyton Manning come to mind)

To be fair to Manning, the Colts never had the multitude of weapons that Denver has on offense.

something I want to bring up about this whole brett draft thing.

look at what we return next year, have a gander at the schedule, then look at the other top teams in conference; and look at what they return and what their schedules are.

next year we return more talent, have probably the toughest OOC schedule. If Wyoming can recruit well this year... our offensive line next year should be dominate.

add in a healthy may with wick, stover, and tapscott...

ruffran a senior, gentry a sophomore, simpson, brown, sewell, and all the others.

defense we lose harris, mertens, and huff.

fresno loses carr... that's all that needs to be said.

keeton coming off injury...

southwick will be there, and boise will probably be our completion, but we get them at home next year.

unlv may be a force? crazy too say!

Just saying; there are more reasons to return. Smith against Mariota will be nationally televised. That my friends, will be a hell of a game to watch. I live in Washington and may be buying tickets. Have my brother come out and head down to Eugene for the day.

in fact... if smith stays, how many people are contemplating going to the Oregon game? With the amount of northwest players on the roster, I bet we have a pretty good brown and gold contingent.

Make no mistake about it....he will test the waters and if he is predicted to go in the first round he is outta here! You would be crazy not to! Why would you risk a million dollar deal to be injured in a career ending fashion as s senior at Wyoming? That my friends is a no brainer.

I've been planning that trip for a while now. I've got family in Corvallis, and going to a game in Eugene sounds like a good time. Whether Smith stays or not (I'm pretty sure he will), I'll be there to cheer on the Pokes!

I will be there as well. My buddy gets back from the Middle East in August (he is in the Army). We plan on hitting both the Oregon and Michigan games.

Here is another one to add from the Denver Post.

Everything comes down to the NFL Draft Advisory Board. If Smith gets a grade rounds 1-3, he is gone. Period....point blank. His bags will be packed....he would be an idiot not to. Round 4 is somewhat debatable.....5-7 is too risky to leave. It ALL comes down to what that board tells him.

I doubt Smith's dad is doing anymore than giving his son props for such an awesome acknowledgment.....but even he knows, it comes down to the DAB.

that's my point exactly jrod.

the bleacher report is nothing but an amateur guessing.

I read nfl scout's blogs... and right now they have him in the 6th round. with the qb class this year, that sounds about right. however, with the Boise and Fresno game still up coming, we could see him jump considerably, or stay right about where he is now.

I want Wyoming to crush those teams, but if Brett has strong numbers and beats both teams... his draft stock will rise. and if we beat those two we will be in the championship game, and then bowl game...

I wish him success and even if he does go, wherever he lands in the nfl will become my new favorite team

unless its Pittsburg or Oakland. then I gotta pray for a trade.

Isn't AA on the Steelers practice squad? $100K a year to practice and an ankle twist or pulled hamstring away from making the roster. Seeing as he wasn't on anyone's radar, I say he made a good move. Risky, but it paid off. Brett would be different (ie-drafted highly), which would mean guaranteed money and opportunity. If it looks like he'd go high, I say he'd leave. Bummer for us, but it suddenly becomes a business decision.

yeah he is

Brett's focus is where it should be: preparing for CSU. One game at a time. He'll do everything he can to win this week, just like every other week. He learned 3 years ago that the football "experts" aren't always spot on, so he'll continue to put the work in and give everything he has because that is what works for him. All the NFL talk will resolve itself, and he knows that.

I think they were spot on 3 years ago - he came to Wyoming, and has (so far) had a great career here.
