I would like to see Smith be protected long enough to play a quarter and get us up 21-0 and let Kirk finish it out.

Then let Brett rest.

I would hate to see Thompson burn his redshirt but he may give us the best chance at winning Smith out, mobile with a big arm, fits the spread scheme better the Kirk .
