3 million dollars in increased budget by 2021 and everything

will be all right. You have to be kidding me. 3 million? Doesn't Tom realize that every school in the country will increase their budgets by more than that in probably less time than 2021?

We're fucked. Fire Burman now.

That's not much of anything at this level....and at the "Power 5" level....they'll all raise their budgets by more than that...probably this upcoming year.

It says in one section that Wyoming needs to be in the upper half of the league, budget wise, in every sport we compete in. It doesn't offer any solutions how we're going to do that. Then it says that we need 3 million to accomplish our goals. 3 million dollars isn't enough to get us upper half in every sport TODAY.

It doesn't account for full cost of attendance, for CSU's 12 million in projected revenue increases from their new stadium, or for increases to athletics budgets around the league.

There isn't one additional revenue stream in the whole plan. His plan is to increase CJC donations, increase ticket prices, get more "energetic" cheerleaders to increase the atmosphere......

If this plan isn't the definition of a culture of mediocrity, I don't know the definition of mediocrity. In fact, this plan is for a culture of less than average.

We're fucked. There's no two ways around it. Tom Burman does not have any solution to our problems.

It's in the athletics plan. Scroll down to the section entitled "Action Plan" and look at the financial details. It calls for an increase in the budget of 3 million dollars without any new revenue streams.

Here, I'll quote it...

Plan: "Secure additional revenue so that each sport program’s operating budget is in the upper half of the
Mountain West Conference. "

Estimated cost: 3 million annually

Funding Mechanism: To be determined

Comment/Estimated Timeline: "This is essential for recruiting, player development, competing for conference championships and receiving national recognition."

3 million is the estimated amount we need RIGHT NOW. This doesn't account for anyone else in the league increasing their budgets, inflation, full cost of attendance......

Beer!!! Sponsorship $$$ + sales profits = WestWYOPoke for AD!

(I'd also aggressively pursue other avenues of income...ironic, one of my more thorough grad school papers was an assessment of current revenue streams in college athletics and research into new or emerging sources of income.)

There aren't many potentially new revenue streams. Beer is one. More luxury boxes is another. Another club section at the War is another. This plan doesn't add any of those.

Burman's idea of aiming high is to increase the budget by $3,000,000 over the next 7 years? A little over $428,000 per year. Most athletic departments can shit that much of an increase annually. What is really troubling is he has no idea how he's going to raise this $3,000,000....using the old tried and true "TBD" on funding sources. If this doesn't show how clueless Tommy is, I don't know what does. I also wonder about these three teams of advisors he put together and this is the best they can come up with? WTF??? I think in 2021 we will all still feel the west side of the War is like a visit to Flint, Michigan. Fucking Burman and his minions. Wyoming, where good enough is good enough.

I'm half tempted to call the athletics department and demand to talk to him. I'm a CJC member and donate every year. Someone needs to put him on the spot. We want to know Tom. What the fuck is your plan aside from a 50 page report that says nothing more than TBD?

This is what we've waited for since the consultants report? The solution: TBD.

Curious...what is the expected percentage of inflation by 2021? Does a 3 million budget increase 7 years from now even cover inflation?

Actually, 2.4 million. The NCAA full cost of attendance will cost us 600 K a year.

I guess I spent way too much of my adult life in corporate America. If I had given this kind of strategic plan to my superiors, I would have been looking for work. I could put all kinds of projections in my plans, but I had to have some sort of an idea of how I was going to get there. TBD is nothing but Tom's way of saying he has no clue what he needs or how to get it - other than relying on the CJC to keep upping the ante. I think many of the members of the CJC are tired of upping the ante. At some point, they are simply going to get up and walk away from the table.

He's not even honest. We need a minimum of 3 million dollars in budget increases RIGHT NOW(not by 2021). After that, we need to increase the budget at a faster rate than the majority of the MWC institutions. That is the minimum to make it to the 50 percentile in the MWC. His numbers are based on top half MWC figures, not top 30 percent: top HALF. He's striving to be mediocre-----> 51 percent.

His solution: TBD, which is short for, "I have no idea how to get it done."

To me this report looks like Tom Burmans 2 week notice given a year in advance.

I'm not backing Burman with this post, but when does the pressure start in CJC? CJC hasn't grown an inch since Rebholz left.. Instead of all the "TBD", why isn't there a "Private Funding"? Seems to be no confidence in putting that in stone.. Just saying.

I did this year. I've been donating $750/year for about 5 years. I'm giving the minimum $100/yr going forward. I might cut that if we get left behind int he next reshuffle. I also didn't renew my season tickets for the first time in 7 years. Don't think I'll be making many. Probably watch them streaming. It's going to take something to get me to reinvest emotionally and monetarily.

Doesn't the quote above say $3 million annually? That means much more than $3 mil over the span of 7 years.

Regardless, Burman's own bio states that the annual budget jumped from $21 mil to $27 mil in 2010. a $6 mil jump and he only wants another 3 in 7 years? Bar isn't set very high.

I share your position. I decided not to re-up my season tickets or CJC until something changes. That might make me the worst kind of fan in many people's eyes, but it's the only voice I have. Would probably change my position over night if Burman got run, but he fits right in with the rest of them and they don't care. What a vag ADTB is with this weak shit - I could hardly make it past the mission statement which simply stated they would mimic the overall university mission - not a deciphering peep about winning even though it's an athletic department.

Should of made it a package deal with Bohl and the AD at NDSU. I believe that dude has a mission and he shares the second least populated state with another state funded university. Would be just what this department needs but instead it's just more of the same.

With all this in mind, someone please tell me how Bohl is going to save Wyo football one more time.

Winner. Winner. Chicken Dinner.

Exactly. Papa Shy is one of the BEST coaches in the country. I think Bohl is good as well. None of that matters because our problem is athletic infrastructure so to speak.

We just aren't that committed to it as a State or as a University.
