2nd Vorel Story on Aaron Young

Hope the kid lives up to all the talk. Some excerpts:

"Not only would Young have to step in as a freshman (at ASA) and absorb a 100-page playbook, he'd then have to take the field and beat out the incumbent partially responsible for a 9-1 season......"He came in, didn’t miss a lick, and beat the kid out," ASA College head coach Dennis Orlando said Friday. "And the other kid’s a heck of a football player.”

The intellect, both Boden and Orlando said, will allow Young's transition to life against more athletic defenses in the Mountain West to be somewhat fluid. He also has ideal size with a "deadly accurate arm," according to Orlando.

“He’s ready to go. He’s the best junior college quarterback I’ve seen in this part of the country since I started the program here in 2009," Orlando said. "He’s ready to go and compete and get that thing done.”

“It won’t be long until the people around Wyoming see the tools that I have to be a winning quarterback for them,” Young said.

I can't remember a recruit getting this much talk ever... Not after acs left.. I think Vorel is over doing it and inflating fan expectations. Not fair to Young IMO

He could very well turn out to be good.....but geez...this kid has politician written all over him. Put in on the field....nobody ever talked their way to a MWC title. Don't try and convey to us that you're great, PLAY great.

That said....I'm not sure Aaron was expecting EVERYTHING he said to be printed. Vorel sure is putting a lot together. This is all going to be kinda awkward if Bohl goes out and finds a better QB.

Not one word of that second part of the article came out of his mouth. All those accolades were from his coach.

The main thing he'll bring to this program is fight. he'll be the first guy in and last guy out. maybe not the most athletically built guy, but alot of people underestimate the mental part of this game. especially at the Qb position. and this is where like coach orlando said he's got the advantage. Reads coverages, understands where the holes are, maybe he wont make plays with is feet that wow you, but he'll make mental adjustments and reads that TOP qb's need to make. nothing is giving and there's some good talent at QB here now and with ford coming in. but i think he has exactly what you guys need for this System.

Yeah, pro-style is a different beast. Good pre-snap reads, quick reads after snap, good footwork in the "pocket", and quick release (to the right target), will be more important than scramble ability.

He won't have much time, so he will either need to be fast with his feet or fast with his arm. Obviously, the receiver routes will also need to be adjusted.
