I like this pick-up a lot.

You never know how a significant injury will impact a player, but Wyoming is in a place where they are going to have to take some risks with players like this. I wouldn't be surprised if he is an immediate contributor for the Pokes.
I was hoping he and his twin brother would both come. Maybe next year the twin can make the switch to Wyo. They are both really good. Micah averaged like 29 a game in high school and can finish around the rim. I think you are right. Immediate impact player.

I am truly impressed with getting Micah Curtis to join the program. He scored in HS extremely well and is 6' 8 1/2 and 230 lbs so he looks to be an immediate contributor.

I was thinking that he would attempt to get a point but I was wrong. If you notice the most successful programs have important depth in the paint. We appear to have that depth that we lacked last year so badly.

I would imagine that both Gerrits and Rojas can handle the duties of bringing the ball up court. Gerrits has played a lot of ball and so has Rojas so have the experience that a good point needs.

Welcome! He looks like Oliver Twist in that picture:

Looks like we have our final player: Jace Beidleman from LCCC. I can't find an official announcement anywhere, but he is on the roster.

Here are the notes from Sunny's presser on the roster:

  • Sunny didn't take the new 5 for 5 into account when building this class
  • Tried to recruit a lot more positional size and skill
  • They're not a very good shooting team yet, but that should come with time
  • This will be a much more physical team than last year's
  • Probably won't be as fast as last year
  • They're doubling down on rebounding
  • Sophomores are the new Seniors in today's game
  • Linus will get to campus July 1
  • This is the least amount of Euros we've had since Sunny has been here, but they are far more experienced than the players we've had in the past
  • The staff has gotten better at raising the floor of the roster year over year
  • Micah Curtis is a futures bet. He's recovering from injury, but the talent and character are there.
  • The most important part of retention is having early conversations
  • Uriyah Rojas has had a massive offseason. He's going to be the leader of the team this year.
  • Sometimes a team isn't a great fit for players, which can drive roster turnover
  • Sunny and the staff set a minimum 2 year expectation for Naz and Gavin from the start of their recruitment
  • The staff had to re-recruit Khaden really hard
  • People are going to love watching Neil Summers this year
  • We lost recruits because guys didn't want to compete for playing time
  • As far as walk-ons, there are guys that want to try their hand at this level. It's hard. That can lead to them leaving the roster.
  • Sunny emailed every engineering school to help Garrett Spielman find a spot. He landed at Michigan Tech, and he'll have an opportunity to play.
  • Zero staff turnover is extremely underrated
  • Madden Smiley and Chris Pohl are very talented players that can play this year
  • Chris is a great shooter, but needs to work on defense
  • Madden is a great defender, but needs to work on offense
  • People around the state are talking about basketball, which never happens this time of year
  • There's a general feeling among the athletic department that it's going to be a great couple of years coming up. There's been a lot of work to get things running smoothly, but it's about to explode.
  • Fan support can have a huge impact in the AA. Sunny says a raucous crowd is an immediate 10 point advantage.
  • The players can tell if a game is going to be a big one for them by seeing extra people around town on gameday, even before they get to the arena
  • The mentality this year is show up and support, not wait and see
  • Scheduling this year is focused on WAB (wins against bubble teams)
  • Some of the magical moments you see on the court are fueled by a good home court advantage
  • The new president is aligned with athletics, which means he's going to be driving support
  • The Tallgrass jersey sponsorship is a huge deal for the University
  • The 2 biggest roadblocks for player success are maturity and security. Players returning helps that immensely.
