2012 Men's basketball schedule released

The games with UC Santa Barbara, Denver, SMU, Illinois St. and Colorado aren't bad but these others should be games we win for sure. I'm sure this will be the last year we have this many weak teams on the schedule mainly due to the fact that we have so many new kids on the team this year. Probably wants to get them some confidence early on.

I bet next year you will see the non-conference schedule bulked up more. I'm not going to complain. Maybe we will go undefeated in non-conference and then .600 in league play and be on the buble for the ncaa tournament. Hopefully we atleast make the NIT this year.

Oklahoma Panhandle State? Holy Shit.....that's really lame!!!!!

With this roundup, I'm surprised they didn't schedule Northeastern Montana State Normal Indian Teachers College.

No Kidding! This is almost as bad as when we brought in a D3 school all the way from New Jersey a few years ago. I'm hoping we got some sort of rodeo agreement with OPSU for bringing them in at least.

OPSU does have a good rodeo program but the football team is beyond horrible!!!!!! No clue about the basketball team though.

Oh, I witnessed a few OPSU football massacres. Colorado School of Mines typically beat them by about 50.

I dont think their basketball team is much better and of course they are Division 2.

OPSU, imho, needs to join the RMAC for all sports but I don't think that'll happen.....ever!!!!!

Absolutely ZERO incentive for the RMAC. The RMAC has rejected them multiple times. I believe OPSU would be better off in the NAIA.

Sadly I agree. It's location pretty much kills off recruiting for any sport except rodeo.

A home and home with CSU Bakersfield. Kinda odd, but an interesting way to break up the conference season. Little change of pace I suppose.

Wow. Is there any doubt at all that this team opens 2012-2013 15-0? Surprised at the lack of SOS.

It's called the Tom Burman "no fail" schedule. Unfortunately, the last coach still couldn't get it done.

Part of rebuilding witha smart coaching staff is scheduling games that you know you should win and building the team. Do you think after losing Waddell and Luster we would be ready for a strong SoS? I think it's ok to take chances sure but the last thing you want to do is disappoint everyone with blowout losses OOC.

IMO you win your conference then you build your OOC schedule. I hate playing no name teams but I prefer we beat conference opponents and then worry about big names.

Every team has cup cakes, we have a good conference and schedules are made a couple years in adv for the most part, Shyatt has hardly had time to get a schedule. Our main priority is to win and this schedule
Makes that possible

I don't really know much about the basketball programs but I heard some guys saying that Illinois State is to have a good team of seniors and a good threat to make the tournament. And I'm told that SMU has Larry Brown as a new head coach with a strong coaching staff and a few good transfers. Maybe those transfers are ready to play. I think one is from Illinois and another from Arizona but after that I don't know.
