In 1998, a Wyoming team that had cracked the top 25 showed up in Tulsa with an 8-2 record. One of the Poke’s losses was a close 9-16 game with Georgia who would finish the season ranked 14th. The second loss was also a close game (3-10) to eventual 12-1 WAC Champion Air Force who would beat Washington in a bowl and complete the season ranked 13th (their only loss was by 1 point @ TCU). The Pokes were expected to easily beat a 3-7 Tulsa team and secure a good bowl (in a time when bowls meant something). Instead they would leave Oklahoma with their tail between their legs after a humiliating 0-35 drubbing. Subsequently there was no bowl invitation extended to the Pokes that season.
I am asking the 2019 team to avenge this loss today. Surprise the Golden Hurricane with a couple of pass completions. Go Pokes!
