I saw this article, and though a little older, I thought it was interesting (I knowthe KState approach was hailed as gospel on this board awhile ago):

I really believe that it has been a mistake to not utilize the JUCO ranks more to build our defense. I have never understood the dogma on this board that JUCO is basically crap and is somehow the wrong thing to do. I have never understood how high school kids somehow develop over 4-5 years but if they go JUCO, development somehow stops after 2 years.
I think Bohl and company are very good at identifying talent. I know this year, they tried to sign a few more JUCO players on defense, but I still contend that the JUCO ranks have been underutilized this year and the past few years especially since Bohl seems to be pretty good at picking out JUCO talent.
I really like Bohl and I believe he will get things headed in the right direction. I just don't think things had to get this bad first.
