I looked up something to see if there was a drop. 70% compensation after year 3 so it would be a 1.5M, roughly buyout, but would rather have that money go towards other things

It's wrong. The person who wrote that article got confused and was clearly not an attorney. That was the BUYOUT provision that Sawvel would have to pay if he left for another job.
However, we don't have to argue about something you read. The contract itself is a public document located here.
Look at provision 12(f) which states that if Sawvel is fired without cause, he gets the entirety of the "Guaranteed Compensation" (which is defined to include all years) and "base compensation." Add $350,000 + $900,000 and that equals $1.25 million for each year of 2027 and 2028.

You might be right, but it seems almost impossible to me.
Even if Burman assured him the he was going to stick with him through his entire 5-year deal no matter the outcomes on the field, there is a pretty decent chance Burman isn't the AD at Wyoming after this football season. If a new AD comes in, I just don't see any plausible scenario where they think keeping Sawvel as HC is a reasonable way to move forward.
A guy can dream.

So you are saying that LCCC is actually going to begin directly competing with UW despite publicly stating they will not? They are already competing with UW for donor dollars (and students)…
I don't think you understand the inroads CSU is making into the Cheyenne area.
NIL, transfer portal and Coach Sawvel have dwindled my cfb and Wyoming interest...I'll follow but won't be nearly as rabid, my BP doesn't need it as much anymore. Yes my away game is at CMU this year, everything already booked...maybe 1 home game but just not excited except Tote Harris!
Makes me sick.
There was a CSU trailer there but I didn't see anything from UW. That is inexcusable.
