Worst MWC ever?

In theory only, if we could trade places with byu and Utah, I would in a heartbeat. In that case, I'd trade all historical rivals for a better conference. To each their own.
BYU and Utah are developing new rivalries -- Arizona and Arizona State. Just today, the main article on the ESPN mens basketball is about Dybantsa: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b.../aj-dybantsa-byu-decision-no-1-pick-nba-draft.

Wyoming is just trying to survive in this new landscape without making any changes ??? I just saw Rick George is stepping down at CU; WSU got rid of their AD (McCoy); CSU changed their AD last year -- Parker to Weber. Wyoming doesn't do anything and just drifts further and further into oblivion.

Not true. We secretly extended the AD. That's doing something even if it was a horrible decision.

We will just go where most of us lesser haves go to create our "we kinda belong" conference...hard being a fan of this kind of conference football imo

Interesting numbers if you take overall records of teams entering each.
New PAC overall record - 35-38
New MWC - 35-47, since we have one more team than they do, if you take out one team’s numbers , we’re 35-39. Hmmmm…. Better? Worse?
The overall record of the MWC if it stayed put is 57-52 add in the pac teams 63-65.
Bottom line, neither league upgraded. Both literally did what they had to do to survive as a conference. I think we would all prefer regional rivals and games that have tradition, but that ship sailed long ago when conference shuffling began in the Big 10 & 12 and when the Big East existed. If you define better as a league that has tradition, then the new pac and MWC aren’t exciting, if you define better as a league that has potential access to the playoff, we are equally good. Right now there is a Sunbelt team and an American that have the best shot at the 12 seed. Take care of the schedule you have next year, and it could be us. I know looking at what we added might make some less excited, but both UTEP and NIU will get better with the money they gain from coming to us. Wazzu and OSU are not going to get better, they’ve hit their ceiling and couldn’t really compete when they had a 30 million dollar budget let alone one that will net around 5. Boise will always be Boise, they are the only team that has some sense of a national brand and they won’t stay anywhere long. The others are all dreamers hoping that they can someday be a part of the power conferences. Won’t happen. If you aren’t in the B10 or SEC, you’re not relevant to the playoff committee or television packages. Shoot, even the ACC and Big12 are potentially going to be on the outside looking in with one bid or none to the playoff. If you haven’t seen the breakdown if Duke wins the ACC, it’s hilarious! It’s being coined as “the doomsday scenario” for that league. I don’t care who we play in future years, I just want the Pokes to win and try to be in a position for a bigger bowl game!

A split is happening next season between a group of teams that have been together for some time. There is no definition or metric that accounts for the group of teams that Wyoming is in next year that is not worse than this year. Any Wyoming fan making noise that even rhymes with the term "lateral move" is deluding themselves. We are worse off than before.

Is the new PAC worse off? Tougher call. In the ability to win football games and in terms of $$ right now... The PAC looks like they have jettisoned teams that drag down the whole conference to I guess you could consider that an upgrade.... But that is a very short term snapshot.

It seems like we should be one of the better teams, but it’s a long way to the top if you want to rock instead of getting rolled. It could be like this in 2026:

1. UNLV
2. Hawaii
3. UNM
4. AFA
5. SJSU
6. Wyoming
7. NIU
8. Nevada
9. UTEP

I’m ok with considering 4th through 6th as interchangeable. The former bottom feeder teams now dominating the top of the conference. Wyoming has perpetually gravitated to the middle or lower on a consistent basis so why expect anything different. I don’t see any big positive from NIU or UTEP and Nevada is a mess.

Most years I would consider our 2026 OOC as a favorable schedule to get to at least 3-1 on the way to 6-6, but I can’t make any judgement until we see the portal and recruiting processes in December. I won’t be surprised if nothing much is done in December for participation in spring ball. It will be the transfer portal movement in January and the signing in February that will define fall camp. This staff seems to need a full camp and almost the entire season to determine if by no other choice that there might be other players on the roster who could contribute.

The ewe posters on RN are glad to be leaving the MWC (I’m not sad actually and dislike them greatly) because they are getting beat by NM. The MWC laughing stock. And they think they are world beaters. The dope must be good in Colo-fornia. Especially if they don’t get the revenues they delusionally think they are.
