Long year...

I think the defense has regressed and the offense looks like will get more yards but still can't score. Even with the pathetic schedule I think 6 wins will be a stretch. I now think 4 at best and thinking more like 3

On the bright side if we only win 3, it'll force Reeves to fire our super jackassed AD and get rid of Sawvell quicker.
 
I really like our new president, but I wonder if he is happy go lucky attitude is going to change after this game? I certainly hope so!
 
A few thoughts:

We still have a very lackluster passing game. This falls primarily on our receiving corps. I am not convinced we have a single WR that is good enough to be playing at the FBS level. Hughes is OK, but he isn't a good enough passer to overcome a terrible receiving corps.

Secondary is the weak link in our defense. We are not going to be able to beat any teams with an above average QB. The defensive line is pretty good against the run, but they generate zero QB pressure by themselves. We will need to rely on blitzes to get QB pressure and that will put our weak secondary at risk. Not a good situation to be in.

Not that many of us didn't know this already, but it's clear that Sawvel just isn't ever going to get it done here. Penalties in key situations, blown coverages, broken plays, questionable clock management, special teams mistakes - they were all present again. Those are coaching problems. If you haven't got that stuff figured out by year three, then it's never going to happen.

I will say this, CSU is much improved compared to last year. That's what a good QB and good head coach will do for you. We've got to find a way to get Burman out of here this fall and the money to get Sawvel out after this season. This is a wasted season. We cannot afford a fourth wasted season next year.
