Does conference expansion give us a chance to move up?

I'm not talking about to a different conference, although I wouldn't rule that out either.

I'm talking about in the MWC standings?

Utah leaves the season after this one.

By that time, DC's third recruiting class will be in Laramie, and our young Pokes will have been tested with top ten schedules in back to back years.

With the youth on our team contributing as much as they do, Wyoming looks like we have a real chance to become one of the elite teams in the MWC.

What say you Wyoming fans, do we have a chance to become the big dogs of our league again?

Unfortunately, when/if that happens, people will use Wyoming to discredit the conference. I can see it already. Unless of course we beat up on Nebraska and other decently strong out of conference opponents.

I have to be honest. As bad as we have been in the last decade we still have credibility. Why? We beat the likes of those big schools like Virginia, Ole Miss (twice), Tennessee and UCLA. We've even beat Utah and TCU in that time span. And if we do that while successful, well, I see our program in a light it's never seen before. A light of respectability.
See, in the 90's even the 80's when we were good, we ALWAYS lost to the big teams on our schedule. Our closest game was the Georgia game. We were the team that could beat up on everybody but the Bigs. Now we do, but cannot pull out the wins that we should be getting. But if we continue down the path we're on, I see us winning all the games we should be winning and taking it to the Big teams on our schedule.

Actually, our program has been in that light. Just hasn't really been in it since the Black 14 incident. Because in the 50s and 60s, Wyoming WAS a national powerhouse and WAS one of the Bigs.

Just another reason to hate the basterds from Provo! :tickedoff:

I don't know if Wyoming will be one of the elites in the new MWC, but the conference has certainly become more competitive for the average MWC team now that Utah and BYU are leaving. It would be exciting if Wyoming rose above and attracted attention as a dominant team in the region though.
