Let’s be fair to both Oden and DuSell. Both Fresno and DePaul just fired their head coaches and hired new coaches. There is a decent chance that Oden was informed that he wasn’t a fit for the new coach/system.
In my opinion - this is exactly what the transfer portal should have been. An opportunity for players to freely transfer when coaching staff changes occur.

You’d have to assume that no one knew he was transferring before he announced. I’m sure his teammates knew and that’s why they all bounced.OrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 6:28 amI’m sure Linder’s position would be something like this. I’d say it would be difficult to make the facts fit this narrative considering Ike was one of the last players to hit the portal last year (I.e the team already bailed on Linder).laxwyo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 5:03 am
One could easily argue that a lot of the issues we’re having is because Ike left for NIL money. It’s not direct but indirect downstream consequences of losing the best player since Nance. How many wins was Ike worth? Now the team blows, people don’t come to the games and other dudes just leave.

Attendance and the tens and tens of NIL dollars that Radford doles outPoke in New England wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 1:14 pmAttendance is why we can't keep our guys right?
Avg attendance at Radford was 1,300 this season. That is less than 1/3 of Wyoming's attendance and would be worst in the Mountain West by a good margin.
Their gym seats 3000.

This makes no sense. Linder said a few weeks ago he liked Sirtautsas (sp) game a lot. I was looking forward to seeing him and I think the coaches were too. So this sucks and is perplexingPoke in New England wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 1:14 pmAttendance is why we can't keep our guys right?

To me - This makes a LOT of sense in context with the trend we’ve seen the last couple of years. A player with options to go elsewhere just might do it.LanderPoke wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 4:10 pmThis makes no sense. Linder said a few weeks ago he liked Sirtautsas (sp) game a lot. If you get paid the same at two different job locations, do you pick the one with the asshole boss or the one with the likable boss?

There are just too many unknowns. First, look where this player ended up. It appears no one else thought very highly of his upside. I'd like to hear from the player himself why he left. Maybe he didn't like the town or the school or the weather. But he's basically throwing away his basketball career by going to Radford. Do we even know why he was ineligible? I'm assuming it must of been grades but it hasn't been disclosed.LanderPoke wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 4:10 pmThis makes no sense. Linder said a few weeks ago he liked Sirtautsas (sp) game a lot. I think Drake knocked it out of the park hiring McCollum. If I was Williams, I'd run towards that staff and away from our burning dumpster too. Time will tell, but I thought we should have hired McCollum when we hired Napoleon. I also thought we should have considered Pat Kelsey, but what do I know. Alas, here we are...marching towards Waterloo.

I’m concerned with what assistant we could hire because I imagine our HC reputation isn’t sterling at the moment…an assistant coach leaving after 1 year to take an assistant job with Drake?? That seems to be a backwards move.
I wonder if we should blame this on NIL and attendance too?

God, I hope so. If he isn't getting NIL, then that's the next best thing.McPeachy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 12:51 pmMaybe there is some ass involved. AKA Levi Williams style.bladerunnr wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 11:08 am
