Many folks were happy when ‘average Joe’ Tiller left because they were convinced that a head coach was holding Wyoming back from championships.

I gave Bohl an 8 (rounded up from 7.5) based on what he inherited to the respectable and competitive program he and his staff built. I hope I am wrong but without some changes to college football, I foresee us missing the Bohl’s days sometime down the road.

Speaking only of coaches with .500 or better records that I saw in my lifetime

Better than Dye, Christensen, Erickson (because he left a really pissed off fan base behind), Dimel

Not as good as Tiller, Roach

Christensen was 27-35 overall or roughly .435.

7 for me...based mostly on just getting the program constently upright after years and years of malaise. 8 felt too high but just barely.

Is the purpose of this poll to show everyone that our fanbase is satisfied with being very average?

Just trying to get a sense of what people think of Bohl. It's hitting about where I expected it would. He's a highly respected coach that was a great cultural fit for Wyoming...even if he never got to the mountain top. His biggest accomplishment, unfortunately, was not a conference championship....it was creating a program that was firmly out of the dregs of the conference once he got going. If he had followed great coaches with lots of 10 win seasons he would not be regarded as highly....but people's memories are not bad enough to forget the lows of he last 25 or so years. Thus, you get a lot of people tipping the cap to him even if he's not regarded as the best.

I forgot how bad 2010 was.

That was a very painful year, although we did find a way to beat CSU 44-0 to close out the season.

Bohl's first 2 years were top 5 worst Wyoming teams imo. Maybe top 3

I agree on his second year. It was atrocious.

His first year was bad, but I wouldn't put it in top 5 worst teams.

The transfer portal didn’t exist and he was left with largely a garbage and undeveloped roster by DC and staff. Back then, you couldn’t easily plug gaping holes in the roster. Bohl’s 3rd year - MWC championship game.

No way - the top three will always be 2000/2001/2002. I've never seen ineptitude at that level...Bohl's teams never performed like that.

1-21 in conference over those years. How quickly folks forget I guess.

God bless Casey Bramlet for surviving it.

Those years were particularly bad because we had three terrible seasons in a row and the fans had completely lost hope that Koenig could get the program turned around. Those games felt utterly useless to play - I assumed a loss each time we stepped on the field.

That said, I remember those teams being at least competitive. You never felt they were good enough to actually win, but they would keep the scores close enough to give you just a small inkling of hope. In Bohl’s second year, we were not competitive at all. I’d have to look at the scores to be sure, but I would bet the games we lost were a lot closer in 2002 than they were in 2015.

You messed up the quotes. But my recollection of 2000-2002 was no hope ever but plenty of garbage time touchdowns and inflated offensive stats as we played from behind always. My recollection from 2015 was a decimated roster that had to roll out perhaps the most out of his league QB Wyoming has ever put on the field for multiple games (Nick Smith).

Bad teams also. Bohl's are right up there against worse competition.
