I think the ball bounces the other way. Playing so many close games means we'll drop a couple. Waylee won't be playing and if he does, he'll be taped up and limited. I could see it being 20-13 in the 4th, but AF goes on a 6-7 min drive late to seal it.
AF 27-13
I was wrong about TT covering. I usually only gamble in very select situations where something looks juicy. This is not one of them but if I had money on it again, I'd probably take AF to cover just to soften the blow in the event we did lose.

24-20 Air Force. I’d feel differently with a healthy Waylee. We are bound to lose a close one and the Academy is a tough place to play.

I think this goes 1 of 2 ways. One is the flyboys run us out of the stadium and win handily by about 17. I think this is most probable.
A close second and where I put my money is a clock game. Game is close but drives take a lot of time. The clock runs out before scores get too high or anyone pulls away. In this scenario, I'm afraid AF is in a comfortable spot and is willing to let Bohl ball play out. 3-4 yards, a cloud of dust, time off the clock, and POKES keep score close but never really threaten.

The only reason I have any hope of an upset is the Falcons weak schedule. Hopefully we can punch them in the mouth early and get them off of their game plan. 21-17 final score. (Not sure who has the 21 at the end)

I am never confident playing the Academy. No predictions from me! I'm busy planning which sports bar I'm watching it from....

Bohl has always had a good defense against AF - even though they seem to pass well against us. This is a different more mature D, great against the run with a better secondary. I see us on the plus side of TOs. Even without Waylee, Pokes win 21-10.

I don't get the pessimism.
- AF isn't better than last year, and we are.
- we didn't need Waylee to beat Texas Tech. Scott and Ferrell are good enough to beat AF.
- they have played, as usual, an embarrassingly weak schedule.
- our defense plays AF better than any team in the country.
Turnovers could change the outcome, of course. But we survived one last year. 2 or more would be a problem.

I would argue that their D might be a lot better and I'm not convinced that our O can put 4 quarters together. In a weird way, I'd rather see our team score 1 TD each quarter than 4 TDS in one quarter. If that makes sense.flyfishwyo wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 1:35 pm I don't get the pessimism.

Reason for concern: schedule aside, AF d has been solid and are good at getting off the field on 3rd downs.
Half 1 vs fresno played the whole game, POKES could have a solid win. Half 2 against fresno played the whole game against AF, the flyboys run away with it.
POKES this year firing on all cylinders are one of the strongest teams in the g5 ranks. POKES in 2nd half vs Fresno are a middle of the pack g5 team. Which one shows up most consistently against AF?

you're right, we go down 17 after one half to the flyboys and there's not enough possessions.ragtimejoe1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 4:31 pm Reason for concern: schedule aside, AF d has been solid and are good at getting off the field on 3rd downs.
