Bring back the baseball program

It has been way too long.
Triple that figure at a minimum.WestWYOPoke wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 10:39 pm Got 3-4 million bucks laying around? Half for baseball, half for women's programs.
While it would be fun, just doesn't seem realistic.
I was being very conservative. I suspect you are closer to the real number, but you could probably do a bare bones program for $1.5-2 million. Even that isn't cheap.OrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 6:14 amTriple that figure at a minimum.WestWYOPoke wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 10:39 pm Got 3-4 million bucks laying around? Women's soccer and Women's golf might be the most successful athletics' programs at the University right now.PokesArePeopleToo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 6:20 pm So North Dakota State can have a baseball program but we can't? Would beat the hell out of golf or women's soccer.
yeah, and just get a failed male wrestler to "identify" as a woman and we'll be set to win titles.OrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 8:57 amWomen's soccer and Women's golf might be the most successful athletics' programs at the University right now.PokesArePeopleToo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 6:20 pm So North Dakota State can have a baseball program but we can't? Wyoming needs to add women's wrestling (the fastest growing collegiate sport). The extra costs are very minor because the facilities already exist.
Yeah but WG and WS are two sports nobody cares about. Bring back baseball and cut some of the fat off of some programs that are only in a state of existence because of compliance issues. Drop one and bring back baseball. NDSU has baseball and so should we. You want to talk with me about a program that would go over huge if we had a facility on campus? Build a 3,000 seat ice arena and watch people fighting each other for tickets with sell out crowds all year for Wyoming Cowboys hockey. Guaranteed.OrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 8:57 amWomen's soccer and Women's golf might be the most successful athletics' programs at the University right now.PokesArePeopleToo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 6:20 pm So North Dakota State can have a baseball program but we can't? This is nonsensical. We can’t drop a woman’s sport to bring another men’s sport. Title IX is federal law and the university cannot exist on its own without federal support including opportunities for federal loans for students and federal research grants.PokesArePeopleToo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 11:35 pmYeah but WG and WS are two sports nobody cares about. Huh
If we were in the SEC we'd be able to play the games. Look outside. The D1 baseball season started February 17 and ends May 27 (which is usually right around the time of our last major snow storm). There's a reason the team was shut down, and it wasn't the lack of talent. To play you need to be able to practice and play games, which is functionally impossible in the snow.

Right now it is 23 and snowing in Fargo.

No one is saying we can't do it, just that it is not realistic. And NDSU is a perfect example of the obstacles that UW would face.PokesArePeopleToo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 1:56 am Not trying to be pissy but how come they can do it and we can't?
