Very excited for this weekend. Hope we can really make some noise there, maybe push Ok St. a little bit. Would love to come out ahead of South Dakota St. I don't know as much about how we perform as a tournament team as opposed to dual, but I'm optimistic.
Three potential matches I'm looking forward to:
1. Archie vs Zilverberg in the semis. Archie beat him before and will need to wrestle well again to make the championship match.
2. Montorie Bridges vs Seth Gross. The edge goes to Gross on this, but I really think Montorie will push him and has a shot. He is a stud. That would be HUGE if he could pull that off.
3. Bryce vs. Dean Heil. Enough said. I think that if Bryce beats him again, Heil will truly be broken. Its been said by a number of people on this forum that Heil is the wrestler they dislike the most. He certainly is for me.
Wish I had flow. anyone know the price?

Of course, Montorie will have a super tough semifinal against Brock from Ok St. Hope he gets his shot at Gross.

Huge tournament for the Pokes!
Number of wrestlers whose "seeds" are just outside of automatic qualifying: Foster, Turner, Pope and Polson. These 4 each need to win a match that their seeds indicate they are supposed to lose. If Pokes can qualify 3 out of the 4 for Nationals, there is a real top-10 finish chance at the NCAAs.
Beating Brock in Oklahoma would be a huge win for Bridges. Will be an interesting match but Brock has to be the current favorite as Bridges needed every bit of the 6 point move to pull off the win in Cheyenne.

Pokes come out firing in the first round!!!
Foster, Turner, Pope and Polson all with wins! I believe all bonus point wins as well. If Pokes keep this up, they could easily be top 2 in the Big 12s.

Paine with the loss and Eagan with the win. Not expecting a ton out of 197 and HWT so 1-2 is solid.
QTRS coming up with everyone but Paine.

Ashworth and Colgan advance to the semis. Ashworth with a surprise close 1 pt win over the 8 seed and colgan with the major over the 7 seed.
Turner the 5 seed loses the match he needed to the 4 seed. Turner will have to pull off an upset in the consolations to qualify for the NCAAs.

Pope and Polson both lose in matches they needed to qualify in the quarters. Disappointing quarters with the higher seed prevailing in every Pokes matchup.
Foster, Turner, Pope and Polson will all have to pull off an upset or two to make the NCAAs.

Rough round. Hope these guys bounce back. Semis start at 5, right? Bridges has got to come out firing to win.

No major disappointments, but I was hoping for at least one upset. Still can come back in the consolations, but lost opportunities

Foster eliminated. He will not be going to the NCAAs even with the 7 bids for 125.
Bridges falls 6-2 to Brock.
Not a good start...

Ashworth (#1 seed) falls to Fogarty (#4 seed) in sudden victory. What a horrible Big 12s for the Pokes today...

I should rephrase...the Pokes haven't competed today so far as they have in the past few months. Pope, Polson, Eagan and Paine could help out by all getting wins in the consolations.

Turner and Polson advance. Pope and Eagan eliminated.
Pope will most likely not be going to the NCAAs (an at large is remote).
Turner and Polson each need to win their next match to qualify. If turner loses he will wrestle for 5th place and an automatic bid. Polson must win to get in the 3rd-4th place match.

After Day 1. Wyoming sits in 4th place behind Oklahoma State, Northern Iowa and South Dakota State.
Musts for tomorrow, qualify Turner and Polson. Ashworth and Bridges come back strong to take 3rd for NCAA seeding purposes. Colgan and Meredith...get it done in the finals in tough matches.
