Both Sawvel and Burman have a lot riding on the OC hire. Hiring Aaron Bohl was probably built into Craig's decision to retire.

Aren’t most contracts written that they are paid, (Hazeltons case the $1.1), unless he takes another job. If so, it’s a no brainer for Hazelton to armchair and get the $1.1. I wouldn’t leave $500k on the table.

MSU is obligated to pay the remainder of his base pay. Should he be hired, they will owe the difference in his new salary and his old. Basically, he could have come to WYO and was still guaranteed to make 1.1 (WYO salary + MSU paying the rest to 1.1).

If he would have been offered, it might have worked out well for him. Spend a couple years back at WYO making 1.1 million total per year then reevaluate (move up again). Obviously could opt to just sit around and make the same.

Quite the opposite. I'm guessing that the AD is getting FAR more heat for this hire than he would if he were to pluck a head coach from a lower tier school or a coordinator from a higher tier school.
In other words...if this hire bombs, Burman is on the unemployment line?
Hoping for the latter as its about time to rid Burman of his UW duties and soon
