Thanks for mentioning the updated roster. I've edited the first post to reflect who we have signed and how many scholarships we have left.PokeTransplant wrote: ↑Sun Apr 16, 2023 9:42 pm Looking at the updated roster, I'm not horribly concerned. Will we contend for a conference title much less make a run at the tournament? Probably not. Getting Combs and Cook seem like solid building pieces with the addition of Walters and Newton to fill in the immediate stretch gap. Would love to see a couple more 6'5" / 6'6" type guards along with a real post banger. Not sure where / who can run the point, or if we need to pull a couple into the system.
Long story short, not overly disappointed with who has joined the program. Hope to keep them if they actually go off to help revive this dead horse of a program....

Do you see any difference on paper from Barnhart to him? Sounds like maybe a bit more developed body.PokeTransplant wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 12:20 pmI really like this get! Scratches the itch for a big post.

Great updates - thank you. With 5 scholarships left to fill, and now 8 solid players and a walk-on rostered, I don't feel like barfing as much. Hopefully they will work their asses off this summer to surprise the MWC next fall / winter.WYO1016 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 2:12 pm Current roster with signings:

Yes, this guy has 40 pounds on Barnhart.OrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 12:27 pmDo you see any difference on paper from Barnhart to him? Sounds like maybe a bit more developed body.PokeTransplant wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 12:20 pm

Interestingly, if you look at the class of 2021 on 247 sports they were ranked almost identically.
Barnhart was 217th (31st ranked center)
Koejenets was 213th (29th ranked center)

Oleg: 7' 232lb vs Nate: 7' 185lb is the obvious difference for me. Now, if Oleg can throw on another 15 - 20lb while maintaining BB skills / endurance, that would be a huge win!OrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 12:27 pmDo you see any difference on paper from Barnhart to him? Not looking for miracles, yet. But, this looks to be a pretty solid start to re-building this team. Have to give kudos to the coaching staff so far....McPeachy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 12:38 pmGreat updates - thank you. Same. Just want to be able to surprise the MWC next year. In other words, win some games that appear unwinnable, beat the sheep x 2, things like that.PokeTransplant wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 1:01 pmNot looking for miracles, yet. Wyoming signs Akuel Kot from Division 2 Fort Lewis College (Durango, CO). He has one year of eligibility remaining. Wyoming has completed the trifecta having signed players from Division 2, NAIA and JUCO.

"Akuel Kot is absolutely deserving of being named NABC All-American," Fort Lewis College Head Coach Bob Pietrack said. "He was simply sensational all season long. Akuel represents everything that is right with collegiate basketball. He's an All-American person, All-American teammate, and without question an All-American Player."

Sounds like a good one! He'll help us to hopefully not suck too bad next year. Help Linder keep his job lolOrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 4:06 pm https://goskyhawks.com/news/2023/3/21/m ... n-nod.aspx

I'm relieved that we will actually have enough players to play 5 v 5. I was getting concerned that basketball competition would consist of knock out and PIG.

Don’t forget HS (Combs, Cooks) and D-1 (Kojenets). IfOrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 3:57 pm Wyoming signs Akuel Kot from Division 2 Fort Lewis College (Durango, CO). You count Kojenets as International as well as D-1 Linder has covered all the sources, LOL.

Still 4 more open scholarships so expect at least two front court guys to go with Powell, Walters, and Kojenets.
Still need a PG as well.

From what I have been seeing, Combs can play the point. Not sure he is a true point, but would be rather nice to have a 6'4" point guard if he is capable of running the offense.NowherePoke wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 6:23 pmStill 4 more open scholarships so expect at least two front court guys to go with Powell, Walters, and Kojenets.
