Very cool. If we can finish the season around 50 that would be great. And a huge step in the right direction as a program. Would also mean we are playing in a meaningful post season tourney.
Being slow, I hadn't heard of NET rankings. So I went to GOOGLE:
What is a net ranking in basketball?
The NET includes more components than just winning percentage. It takes into account game results, strength of schedule, game location, scoring margin, net offensive and defensive efficiency, and the quality of wins and losses.Oct 5, 20
How is net ranking calculated?
The NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) for women's basketball is the contemporary sorting tool used to measure a team's quality and help evaluate team resumes for selection and seeding in the NCAA tournament. NET ranking is determined by who you played, where you played, how efficiently you played and the result of the game.

I think our road wins and big margin of victory is helping a lot.
So not getting blownout at Arizona is key. Might not win, but there is still value in keeping it close.

So, if the NCAA tournament started today, we would be the three seed in the West......I'll take it.
It's kind of amazing how far Wyoming has jumped up all the rankings since the start of the season. Not only are we 12th in Net, we're 56 in RPI, and we're 108 in KenPom. We finished last season at 163 in NET, 172 in RPI, and 164 in Ken Pom.
With Arizona, Utah Valley, Stanford, and potential tournament games against Northern Iowa and BYU, we have the chance to head into conference play with a legitimate tournament resume.
I've been saying this for a while now. With our ability to get road wins, we're going to be in the hunt for the conference title and a bid to the dance this season.

This is the only ranking you need to be high in to get selected to the NCAA tournament. RPI and KenPom and Sagarin and all others don’t matter.
So being 12 is great. We play a quad 1 game on Wednesday and a quad 2 game on Saturday. So our schedule helps us out.
Need a high NET ranking to help get into the big dance.
If you click the link then click on Wyoming team name you can see all the different criteria and where we rank in each one. Pretty interesting.

The conference is doing really well in the net rankings this year as well. We're 7th, barely trailing the Pac 12, and ahead of both the WCC and the American.
Here's a pretty fun page to play around with the Net rankings. Click on conference, click on team, this page makes the information easy to see and use.

If we beat Arizona in Tucson hell freezes over. We have a damn good team, but the Wildcats are on a different level. I'll be stoked if we keep it within single digits.
I'll also happily eat crow if we win, but expecting us to win or even keep it close is a hell of a stretch.

This one will really settle some of the questions I still have. I think a good but flawed team could have gotten the results that we have seen so far. Are we beating up on the "bad" teams? Or...are we legit?...Tune in Wedneday to find out. Single digit loss would be a huge victory in my book.WYO1016 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 4:39 pmIf we beat Arizona in Tucson hell freezes over. On another Pac 12 note….
Washington beat Texas Southern and Texas Southern is beating #20 Florida by 18 points at Florida with a couple minutes left. Should help us a little somewhere in the strength of schedule or something. Every little bit helps.

We need GCU to stay in the top 75 so we keep getting credit for the quad 1 win on that one.

Yeah it will change everyday now. It’s live for the rest of the year. Not sure how a loss to Arizona will affect it since it’s a quad 1 game. Hope we win it but don’t think it will hurt us too much. Still early in the year though. Would be nice to win that Holiday Tournament.

Yeah, its a long season left to play, but I would rather start a marathon with a gigantic lead then be in last place 1/4 of the way through the race.seattlecowboy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 10:47 amYeah it will change everyday now. Really smart scheduling gives us a chance for two more quad 1 victories before conference starts.
For a million different reasons, it really would be great to win that tourney and beat BYU in the final.
