Good. I'm glad common sense trumped this sudden wave of Edwards being Dean Smith after winning two games in the MWC tournament. His total body of work with his recruits speaks loud and clear. Time for a new direction and some better recruiting.

Burman: "After considering all factors, we have not seen the type of on-court success we expect at Wyoming. We have a rich basketball tradition, and we need to return Cowboy Basketball to a prominent position in the Mountain West Conference. "

(Note: Burman's three MBB hires have two winning conference records in 13 seasons. Two.)

Burman better get this one right. A competent coach can get fans back to the AA and turn that arena into a real home court advantage again. Linder does look pretty good at this point.

Jans has good record but prior to NMSU was dismissed at Bowling Green for lewd behavior off campus. Maybe he has got this under control now but presents red flag.

Edwards dismissal was inevitable and should not come as any surprise. Who will replace him?

First off, thanks, Edwards for your contributions. We had a few good moments during the edwards years.

Jans would be a grand slam hire! Linder would be an RBI double. I'm not a fan of Tim Miles, really, so I don't care he's not interested.

Hopefully the players decide to stay. Better days ahead for Cowboy hoops!

I don't mean this too negative, but WYO is becoming a coaching graveyard under Burman. I could see Jans turning it down and waiting for something better.

Good jump for Linder, if he isn't getting other interest.

Is there something going on behind the scenes that is preventing coaches from being successful here or was Edwards simply a bad hire? I think you can look at the football program to see winning will get the fans involved. Do basketball players not have access to the high altitude training facility? The AA renovation was sort of botched, but it's still a pretty solid building to play in compared to a lot of places. If you get rid of of the trash associated with the program and start completely fresh then I think Wyoming will be a decently attractive opportunity for Jans and Kinder.

We are not unique. Look at UNLV since Lon Kruger left. And New Mexico has been mostly terrible since Alford left. Csewe has gone through a bunch of coaches as well. If nothing else, the future coach can see that the cupboard is not bare. It will probably take a big check to bring in a coach with a solid resume, but it's far from hopeless.

I agree that the cupboard is not bare. We do need some thicker bigs to play the 5/4 to compliment Thompson.

I wonder if someone from the Coach Izzo coaching tree is available? He has had one of the most consistent programs over the past dozen years or so. And he develops players.
