So, was he recruited as a DB (he played CB, SS, and FS) or RB?

This is our highest rated commit so far on 247 Sports.

9 Three Star commits to this point, and that's it. I'm sure they'll downgrade some of them since they committed to us, though.

Looks like Chau just got a Purdue offer. I hope we can hang onto him

He tweeted his Purdue offer and then RT’d it and RT’ing all the other tweets responding to his Purdue offer. Hope he stays with us! Be a huge get and he’d do well on our Defense

Mike Leach is reportedly the new head coach of Mississippi State. Chau Smith was scheduled for a WSU visit on Jan 24th.

Rivals and 247 still show him committed to the Pokes. If we can sign him, he would be the highest ranked recruit of this class.

I read on twitter yesterday (can't get to it right now) that he's planning on taking visits to both Purdue and WSU.

Chau cancelled his official visit to Purdue. I'm assuming he still has a visit to Washington State scheduled for Jan. 24th. His twitter still shows him committed to UW.

I imagine Leech leaving WSU is going to impact his decision.

Didn't have a good feeling about him staying committed and that confirms it. Was keeping my fingers crossed but losing our DC and other defensive staff didn't help.
I'm good for 3!

I wondered if the staff change were involved? Maybe another school came to the table as well. Too bad. Wish him the best.

He took his official visit to Washington State this past weekend.

I probably don't need to connect the dots...but with the prior WSU offer and the Wyoming defensive staff transition to WSU, there is zero surprise here.

Richardson probably huge reason if he commits to WSU (most likely as you point out).
Always the possibility that a new offer is in the works too.
Either way, irrelevant now.
