Assuming we win out. What are the odds Laramie hosts the mwc championship in Laramie?

Actually, this is incorrect. The host of the MW championship game is determined by whoever has the highest College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection Committee ranking. I would venture to say that SDSU might be higher than UW even if UW beats SDSU in Laramie. However, if SDSU and UW are tied in the CFP ranking, then UW would host as the second tiebreaker is whoever won the game between the two teams.

I did not realize that. Them still being ranked higher seems really, really unlikely, though.

How crappy would that be if that committee had them ranked higher when we beat them head to head and both would have identical records.

Based on my limited research, the committee only ranks 25 teams. So SDSU and UW both logically have to be outside the Top 25 for UW to host. My guess is that SDSU would be outside the Top 25 if they lost to UW the second to last week of the season. But there's still a chance that UW would not host even if they beat SDSU.

I can't envision a scenario where we win out and aren't ranked and SDSU is...

Exactly. We're already getting votes in both polls. If we beat both Utah State and UNLV before the SDSU game, we'll be getting more. If we win out, there's no way SDSU will stay ahead of us in the rankings.

Did you guys watch UNLV on Saturday night? That team is a mess. Got the piss beat out of them by a lousy SJSU team.

New Mexico is the game we need to worry about.
The game we have to worry about from here until December 4th is the "NEXT" one. I hate when we start looking ahead and worrying about teams down the road. We need to worry about USU and USU alone.

That being said, we have the team to win out and have a helluva a bowl season!

For the players and coaches, no doubt. I hope none of them are reading this or any similar site. Their focus has to be on Utah State. Utah State has owned Wyo since moving into the MWC, and that is another monkey to get off their back. This being Wyoming and the love for firearms and all, I want that rifle.

As for us looking farther ahead, I guess if we get too far ahead of ourselves we are setting ourselves up for future heartache. I was expecting more up and downs this season, but have been impressed with the performance so far. I will continue to take it one game at a time, and enjoy this season as it goes. This is a team with heart and as your last line gets at, we have a team with a great deal of heart, discipline, and is fun to watch. To have that after last year, kudos to this squad. They deserve a lot of credit for how they fought for the NIU win, rebounded after that EMU loss, coming back to dominate CSU, and not giving up being down 21-7 to Boise St.

Go POKES!

Agreed. If we win out, we'll get SDSU at home twice in two weeks. That UNLV game scares the chit out of me though, more so than any other.

It would take some other losses by WMU and possibly some AAC teams, but if we win out, we might be getting the big check from the Cotton Bowl as well. It's not impossible we end up as the highest rated conference champion from the G5 conferences.
I am more scared of New Mexico.

The next question is what kind of a crowd would you expect in December in Laramie if it happens?

The crowd that matters. The rest are fair-weather pu--ies who should become Nebraska fans...

I think I am more concerned about the SDSU and New Mexico games than I am about the UNLV game.

I know there is an old adage about how difficult it is to beat a good team multiple times. That just makes it unfortunate that SDSU is on the schedule so late in the season.
I''m more concerned about the USU game than any other game right now...

I also don't like "assuming we win out" i haven't assumed anything with Wyoming football in a long time

Yeah, just focus on USU next. And bring that shiny rifle to Laramie.

Yeah, sign me up for the Utah State is the only game that matters club.

There's potential for a huge season if things fall into place.

There's potential for a bed shitting of epic proportions if things go wrong.

Utah State is the only game that matters.

I would expect a sold out War for our first conference championship since joining the MWC.
Considering that we made the bball conference championship a home game at the t&m I would hope that folks would make the drive to Laramie

We could also be the good team that sdsu has to play twice

If we make the Championship game and its played in Laramie the university will have to bring in extra bleachers again. The people of Wyoming will show up in droves if there is a championship game in Laramie! Not a doubt in my mind that game would sell out no matter the weather. Unless people can't get there because of closed roads and even then I wouldn't put it past a lot of people figuring a way to get there. haha We had almost 16,000 show up for a WNIT championship game! :thumb:

First things first though and Utah state has a lot of potential to be good they just haven't put it together this year. This one is going to be a tough, hard nosed game. Go Pokes!

Agreed, and guaranteed Bohl isn't looking past the next game(s), and isn't letting the kids either. These kids have matured a lot in the last 30 days.

I think we would be. The point of the adage, I think, is that the odds are the teams would split.

The fact we can even be having this conversation is a testament to how far the program has come. It's amazing.
