How would you say no to your mom, dad, Pete Kaligis, and Craig Bohl all saying they want you to go to UW?djm19 wrote:The best recruit here in Utah. He is a beast. He has offers from every big school. 30+ schools have him offers.
I know Kaligis was in Utah this weekend...but Gustin ain't coming to UW.
Would I be thrilled? Of course. But I would be more shocked than Kevin Federline when Britney agreed to throw down.

This is from an article covering Ohio State back in June. Basically, there is a very strong chance someone created a profile on here to mess with us for the day. "He says no program is eliminated, but five programs are currently standing out – Ohio State, Notre Dame, Arizona State, USC and UCLA."

This would be the biggest get for UW football in some time. I'm sure you've seen that list of offers. Would parents really encourage him over every Top25 college? Maybe. I am just tapping the brakes because other boards are also saying he is coming there.Cowboy Junky wrote:How would you say no to your mom, dad, Pete Kaligis, and Craig Bohl all saying they want you to go to UW?djm19 wrote:The best recruit here in Utah. So after a little research this is what I have found.
Quote from John Gustin.
Quote from John Gustin.
Quote from Porter Gustin.“I remind him that so many kids in America would love to have that conflict,” John Gustin said. “‘Make sure you call back coach Urban Meyer or Les Miles at LSU.’ He’s been good to remember to keep up at it.”
Some schools, like Oregon, Wyoming, UNLV and LSU (which has yet to officially offer a scholarship) have talked to him about playing quarterback. But Gustin prefers to play on defense. Some other schools have also talked about allowing him to continue playing baseball.
“There’s definitely quite a bit of schools open to that,” he said. “And if it doesn’t get in the way, I’d like to see if I can play both.”
He plans to make some official visits in the fall and currently has no time table on making a decision. But John Gustin, a former quarterback at the University of Wyoming, has been there to guide him with advice all along the way.
He says no program is eliminated, but five programs are currently standing out – Ohio State, Notre Dame, Arizona State, USC and UCLA.

I tend to believe this rumor. I just talked to my brother on the phone and he said that Porter's twitter has a picture of him with a monster bull elk. He's a big time hunter. In addition, he came on an unofficial visit to the AFA game that he paid for himself.
This rumor isn't b.s. He has legitimate interest in playing for Wyoming.
None of his top five offer hunting anywhere near as good as the great state of Wyoming.

One thing given he comes here there won't be one person in the US not 100% shocked at his choice. It would be interesting to see just because of how off the wall ESPN and all the other sports news would be.
Anyway, I'll hold my breath on this one but it would be pretty amazing and show the amount of respect that Bohl generates for UW because I don't think any former coach could have gotten that type of recruit.

It'd be awesome if he committed to come here, but until he actually signs, I'm not going to get too excited.

Agreed. It would be a huge get on so many levels. But until Porter Gustin himself announces it (and Vorel and Gags report it), I'll hold off on being too excited as well.Asmodeanreborn wrote:It'd be awesome if he committed to come here, but until he actually signs, I'm not going to get too excited.

Come on, Port! Wyoming will love you for ages. Go to Ohio St. or UCLA you will be a star for four years, but come to Wyoming and be loved by a whole state and become a folk legend.
Total BS. Porter has stated before he won't commit anywhere until after the season. Sorry, love the optimism....but there is 0% chance he ends up at Wyoming.
I have subscriptions to both Scout and Rivals. Again....total 100% BS.

Even if he does commit, he won't be filling any holes at LB next season. He says he wants to serve a mission, so he won't take the field until 2017. Maybe by that time a 4 star athlete will be expected from a Bohl recruiting class?

Let's start the whole "If you come to Wyo you will play but if you go to a big program you won't ever play and be a nobody" because obviously big programs don't ever have freshman or sophomores play and become stars.
That's my favorite game.

If you ever need to laugh, just remember there was some idiot who wanted Bohl fired after 2 seasons.
Start your every power 5 school is better than every non power 5 school routine. There's a lot of poop power 5 teams that put less players into the NFL than non power 5 teams. I wish WYO was one of them, maybe someday.
“Being around Colorado State, I saw that football wasn’t really a big sport there," Parker said Sunday night.
