12th in the nation in effective FG% (WYO = 245th)
14th in the nation in turnover % (WYO = 156th)
18th nationally in 3-pt FG% (WYO 249th)
30th nationally in 2-pt FG% (WYO 223rd)

defensively they were 6th nationally in 3-pt FG% (WYO 176th) and they were 28th best in keeping their opponents off the offensive glass (WYO was 202nd)

lol this is gonna be just a total change. Hooray for a coach who knows how to evaluate players, my goodness

Excited about this hire. Linder apparently loves the three-ball, based on stats. Let's hope some big men can be developed who can play well with their backs to the basket, too. He's also well-spoken and knows what it takes to recruit to the situation.

"I'm extremely excited for the opportunity to be the men's basketball coach at the University of Wyoming," Linder said. "Wyoming has a rich basketball tradition which at a young age I was introduced to on the Sports Illustrated cover that featured Cowboy great, Fennis Dembo. From that time on growing up down the road in Denver, I was always rooting for the Cowboys. For me to now have the opportunity to lead this acclaimed program is an honor that I won't take for granted. I will work to build on the storied past built and laid before me and diligently work to make Wyoming basketball a force to be reckoned with."

Here is a radio interview I listened to about a week ago with Jeff Linder and KTIK (Boise). Good comments from Linder concerning basketball philosophy, recruiting and the MWC. The conversation starts at around the -1:49:35 mark and lasts about 10 minutes.

Absolutely. The facilities at UNC are barely above high school level. Plus, he's beat us like 3 years in a row. I'm excited about this.

Super excited for Linder to be the head coach. I'm a little disappointed to learn that he likes the three ball so much, but I'm sure he can adapt to his personnel, unlike Edwards. I'll weep tears of joy if we are a good rebounding team that hits the offensive glass.

Should be interesting going forward. Some growing pains the first year or two are to be expected, but it will be a change-up for sure. Been a long time since we had a HC who actually focused on offensive rebounding.

Re-recruiting of key players needs to happen immediately. I wonder if anyone from the last coaching staff will be retained. Granberry, maybe? Vandiver, maybe

Pomeroy's stats show Linder's teams doing a great job (overall) of denying opponents the ability to get three-point shots off. In other words, solid perimeter defense. :thumb:

Williams is one of the top-rated guards in Texas ranked 35th in the state by Texas Hoops and in the top 10 for his region of the greater Houston area.

Linder's going to be a great fit here. Nice step up for him, and we get someone from the area that is on the rise. Looking forward to watching our program develop into something!

Welcome to 7220' Coach! It will be great to see Wyoming basketball rise from the ashes and become a successful program once again.
