AWESOME!
If you ever need to laugh, just remember there was some idiot who wanted Bohl fired after 2 seasons.

I wonder if Northern Iowa is looking at this and kicking themselves now. The MAC is actually a decent wrestling conference, but I would argue a conference with OU, OSU, Iowa State, Wyoming and North Dakota State would be better.

Damn. This is big time. Good move. Fantastic decision making by Burman and his staff over there at the Athletic Department.

On a serious note, this is great for the program and State. Wyoming (the State) actually has pretty decent wrestling talent. Love the bigger stage for the program.
Like all athletics, and as Coach Branch suggests, we will need to invest.

This certainly will open the door for more opportunities for NCAA auto births, but will also make the competition for those bids MUCH more difficult. There is no scenario I can see where this is truly bad though; training and recruiting to compete with Oklahoma State will make us a much better program.

That should do wonders for the program. Now we get guaranteed matches vs. OK, OKieState, Iowa State, and West Virginia every season. That should allow us to focus on landing some other big name schools on the schedule.
Imagine if they would have pulled off the three way merger with the Pac 12 as well. That would be a monster conference.
They're still looking at further expansion. I would bet Northern Iowa and Missouri from the MAC are on the target list.

You would think both of those schools would jump in a second. The MAC is garbage at wrestling. Missouri has a history with the Big 12. Northern Iowa would love to wrestle Iowa State in conference. Those two just make sense.WestWYOPoke wrote:Northern Iowa would be a good get, Mizzou would be HUGE.

My thoughts EXACTLY. I also know there will be those that hammer on Burman no matter what happens. However this is a great thing for the athletic dept. in general and wrestling in particular. It happened under his watch so he needs SOME credit. Pretty great news!LanderPoke wrote:Stupid Northern Iowa. Screw them. They left now they are outside looking in.

It sounds like a merger with the Pac 12 is still in play. If Fresno adds wrestling like they we're talking about that might be seven more teams.
