Been looking through historical stats these last few weeks. Here are our total offense and total defense rankings at end of year for the past 15 years.

Glenn years:
2003 (117 FBS teams) - Total O: 82 (Cockhill), Total D: 102 (Breske), Record 4-8
2004 (117 FBS teams) - Total O: 62 (Cockhill), Total D: 67 (Breske), Record 7-5
2005 (117 FBS teams) - Total O: 65 (Cockhill), Total D: 61 (Breske), Record 4-7
2006 (119 FBS teams) - Total O: 91 (Cockhill), Total D: 9 (Breske), Record 6-6
2007 (119 FBS teams) - Total O: 106 (Cole), Total D: 22 (Breske), Record 5-7
2008 (119 FBS teams) - Total O: 108 (Cole), Total D: 38 (Breske), Record 4-8

Christensen years;
2009 (120 FBS teams) - Total O: 107 (Arroyo), Total D: 81 (English), Record 7-6
2010 (120 FBS teams) - Total O: 116 (Arroyo), Total D: 92 (English), Record 3-9
2011 (120 FBS teams) - Total O: 59 (Brandon), Total D: 98 (English), Record 8-5
2012 (120 FBS teams) - Total O: 70 (Brandon), Total D: 106 (Tormey), Record 5-7
2013 (123 FBS teams) - Total O: 22 (Kaligis/Harding), Total D: 111 (Tormey), Record 4-8

Bohl years:
2014 (125 FBS teams) - Total O: 81 (Vigen), Total D: 89 (Stanard), Record 5-7
2015 (127 FBS teams) - Total O: 100 (Vigen), Total D: 91 (Stanard), Record 2-10
2016 (128 FBS teams) - Total O: 48 (Vigen), Total D: 104 (Stanard), Record 8-6
2017 (129 FBS teams) - Total O: 125 (Vigen), Total D: 23 (Hazelton), Record 8-5
*2018 (129 FBS teams) - Total O: 126* (Vigen), Total D: 64* (Hazelton), Record 2-4

*2018 is through the first 6 games.

There are only 3 cases where one side of the ball was in the bottom 10 in the nation. Christensen's offense his 2nd year, and Bohl's offense both last year and this year. Lots of other bad years in there on one side or the other, but those 3 were the worst at least in total offense ranking.

The only consistency we have had was Glenn's 3 final years of defense all in the top 40. No other case of even 2 years in a row of one side of the ball in the top 40

Hawai'i's getting plowed by BYU as well. They've scored 40+ against a team we barely put up 6 offensive points against.

If you averaged all of those out I believe Bohl's teams would be last in Offense and Defense both out of the 3 coaches.

We are never going to get a coach that will win here consistently. This is as good as it gets. College football has past us up and we only get guys who we can afford. We have a contract with Bohl through 2023 so we may as well dig in and stop comparing him with former coaches. We are all aware that we have had coaches we could afford and that will never change. We get lucky on recruiting once in a while but kids don't want to come here. Our football team is rock bottom again no doubt but there's no coach out there who can change the mindset of Wyoming...not one we can afford anyhow.

if those offenses are worth holding on to, why even try....

the refusal to make a change is the worst part. for me, it really started with sjsu last year, and vigens ineptness has been the only consistent light shining through since then...

fire vigen for these results

im sure the players know better plays from high school and could do better scratching them in the dirt

Well hello Mr. Burman.

If I were to allow myself to believe any of this there would be zero point in continuing to be a fan.

That is bs. There are coaches in this conference that make way less that are way better. Don’t have a loser mentality

Yeah Bohl is not the lowest paid coach in the mw or in the group of 5. Plenty of other coaches making less than bohl and having better than bottom 10 offenses for multiple years

Give me evidence that we can get enough kids to come here that are good enough to keep winning. It doesn't matter who coaches us. We aren't going to get beyond the piddly bowl games and 8-4 seasons. We were fortunate to have that for two years. This is our high point for a while. Hopefully we get lucky with a few recruits so we can get back to the potato bowl. Just keep Bohl through his contract and see what happens. No more of the coaching change and start over garbage.

No doubt there's a lot of problems with our coaching, but its ignorance to ignore the laramie effect on our athletic programs. Why would a highly touted recruit want to go to school in Laramie? It's cold, it's windy, and the best thing it has to offer is outdoor activities that a college football player probably has no time for. The town cranks out alcoholic college students for a reason. I love Laramie and I loved UW when I was there (mostly for hunting and fishing opportunities), but we have to realize that there are some things about Laramie we will never change no matter who our coach is or how much we spend on training facilities. Keep Bohl if he's willing to make changes on offense, but as a fan base we need to be realistic and stop with this pie in the sky mentality that we're going to compete for a MW Championship every year.

Evidence is with the defense! We recruited all the kids here necessary to have a pretty salty defense. Why not with the offense? You’re telling me that somehow all the good football players ended up one side of the ball? I don’t believe it. It’s coaching/philosophy. Once we change those we’ll be ok. We were a TD from being conference champs two years ago. We can have that year in and year out regardless of your defeatist mentality

Exactly. By far the #1 factor in where a recruit goes to school is the coaching staff
