Eerily similar to Glenn. Actually, Glenn's Vegas Bowl team is the best of both coaches so far.
We need to let this ride a few years but Bohl (mainly Vigen) is on notice. Glenn waited on Cockhill too.
Love Bohl, but...

Agree with your point but Glenn’s best team was 2006.ragtimejoe1 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 7:32 pm Eerily similar to Glenn. Actually, Glenn's Vegas Bowl team is the best of both coaches so far.

I'm going to begrudgingly agree here...like Bohl a lot...I'm getting that Glenn feeling though. Lets see how conference standings play out this season. The boys have a chance at turning this turd of a start into something good. (Not that I'm predicting it or anything.)
When I step back ... and honestly ask myself what I thought our record would be three games into the season...It's 1-2.

So...I'm asking myself is there something systemically going on at wyo that keeps the high water mark for this program where it is? It seems like since Dana Dimel the cycle is:
1. New coach inherits dumpster fire
2. Gets leeway to implement new system (usually with no relation to previous system)
3. Actually puts together a two year stretch of decent football resulting in a bowl win/appearence.
4. Whatever was working during the better results starts to not work.
5. Players begin to quit on team.
6. Dumpster fire season occurs.
7. go back to step one.
I really hope we are not at step 4.

Really all you can do is keep repeating the cycle until you get lucky and stumble upon the next Urban Meyer.307bball wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 8:14 pm So...I'm asking myself is there something systemically going on at wyo that keeps the high water mark for this program where it is? Huge Bohl supporter but if you lined up Glenn's teams vs Bohl's in first five years, I think Glenn would be 4-1.
Again, I really like Bohl but it is what it is. We can compete in a dilapidated MWC but we'd get smoked in the MWC of old.

That is my suspicion...still sux though. I'd love to get to be like the Iowa Hawkeye program. Sustained success with coaching stability...is this even possible in non P5 program? Is the name of the game at Wyo just to play coaching roullette? What makes some schools historically better/worse?calpoke25 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 8:16 pmReally all you can do is keep repeating the cycle until you get lucky and stumble upon the next Urban Meyer.307bball wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 8:14 pm So...I'm asking myself is there something systemically going on at wyo that keeps the high water mark for this program where it is? His offense only works when you’re bigger, faster, stronger. This isn’t North Dakota St. The offensive line and backs aren’t good enough to run a pro style ground and pound.

I sure hope not. However, I do hope Bohl adjusts the O.
Fanboys might be shocked, but Bohl is largely benefiting from a very weak MWC. Glenn through 5 years was better.
Bohl will get us there but it's going to take a decade.

You are right this isn’t NDSU....NDSU beats P5 schools on a regular basis.
He beat P5 schools at NDSU using that exact same offense.
It’s just that you are Wyoming....

Didn't seem to be an issue for Glenn at WYO.2011BisonAlumni wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 8:41 pmYou are right this isn’t NDSU....NDSU beats P5 schools on a regular basis.

He beat horrible P5 teams at NDSU. He only beat one half decent team there. The rest were really bad teams. NDSU would have a losing record if they played an FBS schedule. He also lost to Wyoming while at NDSU.2011BisonAlumni wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 8:41 pmYou are right this isn’t NDSU....NDSU beats P5 schools on a regular basis.
