Re: Bohl interviewed for Iowa State
but Bohl has taken a bottom program built it up and then moved it to the next level and won at the next level before. I see this a lot about how Bohl built a program at NDSU and I don't ever understand that. Sure, the year before Bohl took over up there, they had 2 wins. Before that?... 7 12 9 7 9 ...

Re: Bohl interviewed for Iowa State
First, no credible reports confirming this yet, so nothing but a rumor as of now. Still, even if this rumor is true, why would people be mad? Sorry, but that is a bit Polyannish. This is the real world, FFS. WYO is a G5 school in crap conference (right now) and is middle to the bottom in terms of bu...

:deadhorse1: :deadhorse1: :deadhorse1: :deadhorse1: Personally, I think this emoticon should be banned for 1 year. I know it is just me, but the dead horse reminds me of our football program and the smiley with the stick reminds me of, well, every team outside of the state of Nevada. I know, overly...

That's not a report from anyone on those forums, instead, that's someone on that board reporting that Bohl interviewed at Iowa State based upon this guy https://twitter.com/ChrisMWilliams" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; who runs a website which covers Cyclone sports: http:/...

BOHL: JACOB HOLLISTER, TE, Arizona Western C.C. AARON YOUNG, QB, ASA College JOSH ALLEN, QB, Reedley C.C. TAVITA FAAIU, DE, City College of San Francisco Thinking about this a bit more, isn't this evidence we should do more? Starting TE that played in 12 games and was 3rd leading receiver (I think)...

BOHL: JACOB HOLLISTER, TE, Arizona Western C.C. AARON YOUNG, QB, ASA College JOSH ALLEN, QB, Reedley C.C. TAVITA FAAIU, DE, City College of San Francisco Definitely some good players in there.....but a lot of misses too. DC loaded up on JUCO's.....didn't really work for him. Isn't Josh Allen suppos...

I keep forgetting, at WYO we need to avoid JUCO and Texas.
Sounds like a recipe for success to me!
Do we also avoid WYO kids?

Re: FBS coaches salaries
usu has done a nice job with their athletic program on a limited budget. Looking at the numbers specifically in this conference, the budgets and salary rankings usually fairly closely mirror the final standings (at least categorically--T3, T5, bottom 5, etc.).

Re: 2 years is enough
I would rather get young guys in an develop than bring in guys like Aaron Young and Capt Kirk who were JC guys that probably aren't D1 level players. I can't think of many successful JC guys in our program in the past 5-6 years? If any one can think of some... The two you mention are obviously a sw...

Re: 2 years is enough
Bohl screwed up in the short-term by not getting Thompson to stay, not recruiting better in his initial class, not recruiting more JCs, running off a lot of veteran players, but this in no way compromises his long-term success. A few JCs would help, I agree, but that is a bandaid for what this prog...

Re: FBS coaches salaries
We need to find a way to pay our assistant coaches a more competitive wage. Wait you think that group of assistants are under paid? Or do you think bohl would have hired different guys? Neither is true imo. This is like hiring Dave Christensen and then paying him twice as much as you hired him for ...

Re: 2 years is enough
We are a nation of instant gratification. I'd prefer a long term build over short term success and I believe Bohl is doing that. If he doesn't, a lot of us will be eating crow... Short-term success and long-term success and not mutually exclusive. I prefer short-term success with sustained long-ter...

Re: FBS coaches salaries
We need to find a way to pay our assistant coaches a more competitive wage. This is a must address. I couldn't agree more. Between this and our recruiting budget, we are handicapping our coaches. 750K-1 million more to salaries and 300-500K more to recruiting would pay for itself. My approach if I'...

Re: 2 years is enough
Show me how I'm wrong. Look through this list (page 2-3). Some had success instantly and some struggled for up to 3 years. However, all had 7 wins within 4 years. 2 years isn't enough. Pick through some of the legendary coaches and you'll definitely find a mixed bag the first 2 years. Keep in mind ...

Re: Mead recommends $8 million in matching funds - UW Athle
That would definitely help and I hope it passes. Please, Mr. Burman, start a record demonstrating what this money does for the University and how helping athletics helps increase revenue at the University, in Laramie, and in the State. Burman must do this. Clearly demonstrate how he is using the mon...

Re: 2 years is enough
While stomping out some ignorance, another thread, it was very obvious the first 4 years were critical. Almost all highly successful coaches at the G5 ranks who had to build a program attained 7+ win season within 4 years. Obviously, some coaches attained that and then flamed out, but there were ver...

Richt at Miami would be very interesting. He is already well established in that area, is a good recruiter, and is a good coach.MrTitleist wrote:Mark Richt and Dan Mullan interviewed at Miami today.
5 schools contacted him. I've read: Mizzou, Miami, and Maryland. I wonder who the other 2 are?
