Re: Did you watch the Craig Bohl presser?
You need better athletes to run the spread than you do to run the power game. Bohl does not run a power game he runs a west coast passing offense with a power running game. They are a very balanced offense and nothing like Glenn. It is easier to run power with less talent because a lot of it is a m...

Re: Offense
Did you guys watch the last drive of the Kansas State game? He plays a Tampa 2 defense and a west coast offense. Yeah, they were committed to running the ball, but there was balance to the offense. They had 5 wideout sets, shotgun formation, and a lot of I formation. It is a pro set offense, but do...

Re: Wyoming athletic department moving forward
Pretty much. With that said, I don't think Sternberg would have been a long-term solution either and no that is not from reading anythingBrew_Poke wrote:Well, that's f-word up.

Re: Offense
That is my big question as well. Like I said in another thread, I can't think of a smaller FBS program that plays smash mouth football and wins consistently.
If Bohl is hell bent on running a smash mouth football offense only, I don't think we will succeed.

Re: WTE- UW, its fans have too-high expectations
What is the realistic measure of a successful hire? I am looking for the things that the AD has to worry about like ticket sales, average attendance, donations, net profit margin, etc. The AD has to build for the long term and wins at the expense of APR failures, scholarship penalties, or even some...

Re: Semi-OT: How would you do the playoff this year?
16 is perfect. It's only 4 games to the title and only 2 teams will go that far. All the other divisions do it. And yeah, the MWC champ and the MAC Champ probably wouldn't go far this year, but they deserve the chance. Do you like the fact that the entire MWC along with the rest of the G5 is out of...

Re: Semi-OT: How would you do the playoff this year?
Needs to be16 teams. 11 conference champions and 5 wild cards. Puts major emphasis on winning your conference. I think it would be too large and too many games for 16 teams. Realistically, our conference champ (and the MAC's, the Sun Belt's, etc.) would be beaten badly by the big boys this year. I ...

Semi-OT: How would you do the playoff this year?
Next year, the BCS is gone and 4 teams will be included in a playoff. Actually, most years, I would say the top 4 probably includes the best team in the nation. This year it would be: 1) FSU vs. Mich State 2) Alabama vs. Clemson With 2 loss Stanford, 1 loss Baylor and Ohio State on the outside looki...

Re: Did you watch the Craig Bohl presser?
Certainly had to be one of the top 3 available candidates. I don't quite share your enthusiasm, however. That would be the same regardless of who we hire. We have non-head coach underlying issues here that also have to be corrected. Hopefully Burman fighting to keep his job will light a fire under h...

Vic K came from the Dimel staff. Dimel was not a seasoned HC.CitizenCane wrote:Lloyd Eaton, Fritz Shurmur, Al Kinkaid, Vic Koenning.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it sucks.
The key is the right HC. If Tedford materializes, I think it would be an opportunity to think about this model.

Re: Regarding Stitt
I guess you could say Utah, and Utah State. But I do get your point. It's not all that common. Before us Wyoming fans start worrying about if we will have success if/when Tedford leaves (he isn't even our coach yet!) we should just worry about having success when he is here. Can't have continues su...

Re: Regarding Stitt
This idea we have a guy on staff that can take over if the HC takes another job is laughable.. Signed, Boise State. Boise is no doubt the exception to the rule. What other schools have done what they have done with a string of head coaches? We have to find our own model. Boise State is arguably the...

Re: Regarding Stitt
RTJ has a good idea... I like the idea of Stitt as an OC.. either groom him to take the reigns at UW if a HC wants to leave, or groom him so he can take his own HC job elsewhere. Let the HC decide who is on his staff, and if the door is already being made ready for Tedford to leave before he even a...

Re: Regarding Stitt
Are you related to Stitt? Who knows if Tedford would move on quickly, he was at his last job for 11 seasons. I think this idea is WAY out of the realm of possibilities and is in the realm of were the aliens nice to you when they beamed you up? That is why the caveat of "if the new coach is wil...

Tedford Money
At first I thought Tedford might want a lot of money or try to get in a bidding war. After all, he was making 2.3 mill/year previously, <edit> but his agreement with Cal might impact things. The university and Tedford will split evenly any amount he earns in excess of $1.5 million in any year in tho...

Re: Jeff Tedford to Wyoming?
I'm curious as to what specific system would be successful in Laramie? I think any system can work if coaches can get the players they need and develops those players. I don't believe that we are getting lesser talent than most of the schools in this conference. Only SDSU, Fresno, and Boise seem to...

Re: Jeff Tedford to Wyoming?
Colorado produces about 24 FBS players a year. Of those, the top end choose big 5 programs by a large percentage.
At the end of the day, it is what it is: ID gems in the rough and coach them up.
Again, I'm not against Tedford; just wonder about his system in Laramie.

Re: Jeff Tedford to Wyoming?
How does Nebraska do it? They have tons of big farm boys. Oh, is it because we have ranches, where the kids work hard all day so they don't end up weighing 300 pounds, while Nebraska is full of a bunch of tractor riding, corn eating tubby boys? Where do these big boys come from? Nebraska will get e...

Re: Jeff Tedford to Wyoming?
With Glenn we had Demo and Wynell. We just never had a QB. If we had Brett Smith for 4 years under Glenn, don't you think we would have won quite a few more games? I guess I don't see why the O-Linemen could block in the run game, but couldn't in the pass game. Difference in opinion, I guess, but I...
