Re: Why can Air Force field a competitive team
Their guys get good experience playing in the JV league. They have a good setup with that. Not to mention with just a few wrinkles, they have run the same offense for 30+ years. It's engrained there. So what? If the kid never played that o it doesn't matter. They have the same learning curve as if ...

Re: Playoffs are a bad thing
You just started thinking about this? You missed some good conversations from the day it was announced as a 4 team playoff that we already knew the P5 was completely screwed. Not just started thinking about it, but the obviousness of the problems from the logistics of the playoff weren't in existen...

Re: Joe Glenn set to retire
Hell of a good guy and I thought he was a good coach. I think he was either too loyal to Cockhill or didn't have enough support to get a better coordinator. The trade for DC wasn't a good one but hindsight is always 20-20. I know his conference record was pretty bad his last 2 years, but the MWC was...

Re: Because there is nothing to see here....
We might as well talk about the Cat/Grizz game this weekend. There is no bigger game in the surrounding region in terms of rivalries and passionate fan bases! Go Grizz! I thought schools at the FCS level had no fan support?????????? :D Ohio State averages over 100K per game so the MWC must have awe...

Re: USD safety transfers to Wyoming
IMO, this season is not an indication of anything really. We have a few players that demonstrated that they are very good and a bunch of players that are unknown. We do not have enough really good players to be competitive so the unknowns will have to develop (a lot). You can't assume progress or la...

Re: Playoffs are a bad thing
Arkansas State? Toledo? SDSU? Houston? Why in the world would anyone want a playoff without the best teams in it? Because every sport and every other level of football has the conference champs of each conference participate in them. I don't disagree philosophically, but, practically, this line of ...

Re: USD safety transfers to Wyoming
As you know RJ....there are fans on both sides of the fence. Some will stay away until the product on the field gets better...some will just show up and support. The first game of the season is the litmus test IMO. I think the 3rd or so home game will be the best litmus but hard to tell. Regarding ...

Re: USD safety transfers to Wyoming
but I don't think this year will have that big of a negative affect....which is a good thing. Go Pokes!! It will be interesting to see from both a recruiting standpoint and fan support standpoint. We still haven't recovered from Schroyer, but he also coached for several years. Still, attendance nex...

Re: USD safety transfers to Wyoming
Nice. 2 things stuck out at me: 1) Gragg said he chose the Cowboys because he loved the family environment the coaching staff preached. This is exactly in line with what most recruits say and what most recruiting outlets say. It sort of contrasts the mentality of why it is so hard to recruit to WYO....

Re: Playoffs are a bad thing
something's going to happen, it's truly inevitable, and it's sad that TV $ drives the bus, even in College Football, afterall the NCAA is spozed to be an amateur level of competition... This chaps my ass to no end. It simply amazes me that we (in the US) willingly and knowingly accept a system that...

Re: Playoffs are a bad thing
Like we'd ever qualify for a National Title chance, Boise St proved that and the sportswriters don't like when the littles threaten the big boys spotlight, but yes the big keep on getting bigger, i wish like i've always said, give us a bowl game or playoff system in our "lesser" division ...

Re: Playoffs are a bad thing
I think another split is inevitable and I'm ok with that. I think comparing schools like Wyoming to schools like Texas and Alabama is crazy. We may be in the same division but light years away from the same league. I think we should embrace a best of the rest mantra. Kind of like divisions in high ...

Playoffs are a bad thing
I was thinking about this more and I think the CFB playoffs are the beginning of the end for our participation in the highest level of CFB. The P5 conferences are already discussing resolutions to the problems stemming from judging SOS as a factor to get into the playoff. Most if not all that I've r...

+1 :orly: !!! Really! This is amazing your +1 this when I've been the one that has gone back and forth with you since you first said NCAA a few months before the season even started! Fair enough. Yeah, I sure hope we would have been competitive against that bunch. The alternative...wait, never mind. In the words of a teenage girl "I can't even".LanderPoke wrote: True. But we wouldn't have gotten killed by these guys and the games wouldn't have made me sick to my stomache

Re: 2015 Predictions: Win Total
We would have one maybe two more wins if we played fresno, san joser, and hawaii this year. That would have everyone feeling better. I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Theoretical but we aren't good enough to assume we would have won any game against any team FCS or FBS. We were rarely even competitive...

Re: Heard Bohl is cleaning house
Yes. Kaligis needs to stay. This may be unpopular, but I think the whole staff needs more time including Stanard and Vigen. Youth, bare cupboard, eating an elephant, whatever you want to say, there were still some symptoms of coaching deficiencies. The main being a complete lack of 1st quarter prep...

Re: Our Offense Sucks
Football's got me in a sour mood. It stole all my patience :| I hear yah. You know though, for me, the rebuild year in bball doesn't bother or worry me. Shy is a good coach and already built an NCAA team in Laramie. Even his other years (albeit with low SOS) were decent. We haven't had a poop...
