Re: How do you feel about the QB position
I am very optimistic about Svoboda. The game he played at Texas made me a believer. He made 2-3 throws in that game that I haven't seen a Wyoming QB in the past two decades make other than Josh Allen. He isn't an elite runner/scrambler, but I was surprised with his scrambling ability against a very ...

Re: What could have been
Living their 15 minutes of fame 1 game at a time...lol...yeah if you transfer pay it back to the school u left...sellouts... Saw where a kid (grew up in Iowa) went to Alabama, was offered $100k to transfer to Iowa, took the money and transferred back to Bama. This whole thing is out of control Beat...

Re: BB transfer portal is open
This is as good as it will ever get for NCAA athletes. Give it 10 years...the majority of NIL deals will be incentive based. If you don't play well, you don't get paid. I would also not be surprised if we start seeing contracts that legally oblige the athletes to commit to a specific school/team for...

Re: BB transfer portal is open
The problem with NIL as it currently exists is that it has created a professional sporting league where athletes are paid by unaffiliated third parties rather than the schools (ie the employers) themselves. This gives all of the negotiating power to the athletes and none to the schools/coaching staf...

Re: 24-25 Roster
Caden Powell - gone Seems that 2 seasons is the limit for most players under Linder. Not sure Powell will ever be much of an impact player on any mid-major (or higher) college basketball program. He has very poor hands and is not very poised with the ball in tight spaces down low. I do think he cou...

Re: 24-25 Roster
This sounds like complete horse crap. The best athlete on the team? And he couldn't see the court over Kojenets - a guy who looks like he has trouble getting food to his mouth. If that's true, then Linder should be fired right now for gross incompetence. Read the article. Or even the post you are r...

Re: 24-25 Roster
Interesting snippet from Cody Tucker's article on Theodosiou transferring: https://7220sports.com/wyoming-basketball-loses-freshman-guard-to-ncaa-transfer-portal/ Jonas Sirtautas, a 6-foot-10 forward from Lithuania, spent the season with the team in Laramie but was ruled ineligible. According to Li...

Re: Trending in the Wrong Direction
The generally accepted recommendation is that you should save a minimum of 10x your annual salary if you want to retire at age 67 and live a similar lifestyle in retirement. If you want to travel and have some fun in retirement, you will need much more than that. This also assumes you have a home th...

Re: Trending in the Wrong Direction
I highly doubt this is the case. That approach would be career suicide. If you fail at Wyoming and get fired, you aren't going to have many coaching opportunities present themselves. Maybe an assistant at a mid-major or a D2 team might take the chance to hire you as a head coach. The fastest way ou...

Re: Trending in the Wrong Direction
Because last year was such a trainwreck, I think I felt somewhat relieved that this year's team wasn't as bad. But in reality, it was still a pretty awful result. Another losing season and not really competitive with the better teams in the conference. As others have posted, we will basically start...

Re: UW Block Grant Budget Amendment
This is a really complex topic, but I'm glad people are discussing it. I'm so tired of anything remotely controversial being label "political" and then being banned from being talked about. That idea seems to be grounded in the idea that people are just too dumb to discuss anything rationa...

Re: MWC Basketball to go to 20 game conference schedule
DU, Northern Colorado, and Montana State should be a staple in our non-conference basketball schedule every single year. Travel is relatively easy with those teams, and I have to believe our fans care more about a game against a regional team they recognize vs. a school they have to google to find o...

Re: Fresno - twice in a row
We have looked a lot better beginning with the second half of the UNLV game at home that went to OT. In my opinion, the last 2 weeks have been the best basketball the team has played all year. We are peaking at the right time. Will that peak be high enough to make a run in the MWC Tournament? We wil...

We've really looked a lot better these last 2 weeks. Good enough to make a run in the conference tournament? Probably not...but I at least feel like we have a puncher's chance now.

Re: Semi-OT:long distance Amtrak
I would be shocked if this happens anytime in the near future. Spending money on infrastructure is no longer something voters in this country put any value on. Politicians know this and steer clear of infrastructure plans, especially long-term ones, in their campaigns. Instead, they focus on the thi...

I agree on his second year. It was atrocious.ragtimejoe1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 2:40 pmBohl's first 2 years were top 5 worst Wyoming teams imo. Maybe top 3
His first year was bad, but I wouldn't put it in top 5 worst teams.

Re: UNLV
Really rough shooting night. I guess some regression back to the mean is to be expected after the last two above average shooting performances. Any road win in the MWC is an achievement, but that was a pretty bad Air Force basketball team we beat in Colorado Springs. Winning in Vegas was always goin...
