Re: Cowboy wrestling competes in Big 12 tournament

Will be interesting to see what happens. Pokes have been wrestling pretty tough in the latter part of the season after a real slow start. I must agree with LPs assessment of South Dakota State. What in the hell got into them?! It does give me hope for the Poke FB team though. Miracles do happen!

Re: Cowboy Wrestling 2015-16

Good showing at TOC after a couple of bad dual losses. I am looking for a competitive year but not a real strong one. Seems like that has been the story for the last few years. It would be great to see the Pokes take that next step up.

Re: Bryce Meredith - Transfers to Wyoming

I am seeing several things on here. Does WY or Branch get top-level talent? The answer is, in most cases, "no". However this speaks volumes about his coaching abilities. His record in duals, number of AAs, conference titles, etc. is extremely impressive when you consider he is doing it with lesser t...

Re: Fire Burman

On topic: all I can say is if it wasn't for striking gold so to speak with Shyatt thus far, Burman would have been ousted already. Can't think of a single major coaching hire that hasn't been a train-wreck. (obviously jury still out on Bohl) Not getting int the "fire" or "don't fire" argument but Bu...

Disgust....

I know two elderly gentleman (OK, ones my Dad, the other an uncle) that have attended most home games since the end of the Eaton era. That's a lot of football. I have seen them mad, ecstatic, disappointed, euphoric, hopeful etc. about Cowboy FB. However for the first time in my life I have seen a ne...

Re: It just got pretty lonely on the bandwagon

Not ready to give up on Bohl yet but have just about given up on WY football. They will always be my team, and I will always root for them, but if we EVER get a .500 season again after this total embarrassment, I will be happy.

Re: Deti Stadium

@LanderPoke There is going to be a night honoring former players, cheerleaders etc. but not sure when that is. I know I have some former teammates that are going to go. I think on that Facebook page, if you scroll down, it talks about it.

Deti Stadium

Like Okie Blanchard Stadium before it, Deti Stadium in Laramie is about to enter it's final season. I know many of the younger people on here never experienced LHS football in its "prime" but like all dominant programs, it was really something (and lasted a very long time). As a former Plainsman tha...

Joe Ramunno HOF

I just learned Joe Ramunno, one of the great offensive lineman to play for the Pokes, will be inducted into the HOF. Besides being a great player, Joe is one of the best persons anyone will ever meet. After his playing days ended, Joe has gone on to a very successful coaching career. Congratulations...

Re: Cowboy wrestling to the Big 12

Stupid Northern Iowa. Screw them. They left now they are outside looking in. My thoughts EXACTLY. I also know there will be those that hammer on Burman no matter what happens. However this is a great thing for the athletic dept. in general and wrestling in particular. It happened under his watch so...

Re: 2014-2015 Poke Wrestling

Let's go Woody! Would certainly be nice to get another AA for the Pokes. It would soften the hurt of a very disappointing tournament. I guess one nice thing is that WY wrestling fans now expect top 20 finishes when before Branch that wasn't the case. While many things (all?) have improved, this prog...

Re: 2014-2015 Poke Wrestling

Go Pokes! Cowboys got some terrible draws for 1st round but no excuses, it's time to perform. I said earlier I thought all wrestlers would be capable of winning a couple of matches but bringing home any AAs would be a long shot. I hope I was right on the first part and wrong on the second. Time will...

Re: 2014-2015 Poke Wrestling

Pretty confusing for sure but 5 Pokes are in. I agree with LanderPoke, Andy should be in but Colgan is probably a long shot. I guess we will know tomorrow. It looks like this group is more of a good dual-type team ( good throughout but no "elite" type wrestlers.). I think all are capable of winning ...

Re: 2014-2015 Poke Wrestling

Sorry, I screwed up. WY actually has 5 qualifiers. That's better, I'm not quite so depressed but still don't think it was a great tournament for the Pokes. Anything less than a WWC title is a disappointment, I think. Team certainly had the firepower to win it, but didn't wrestle particularly well i...

Re: 2014-2015 Poke Wrestling

Extremely disappointing tourney to say the least. Only 3 guaranteed at the NCAAs, and all of them long shots to be AA. That would be two years in a row without any AAs after several years of placers, some years multiple AAs. Extremely disappointing.

Re: WWC wrestling merge into the Big 12 ?

Sorry guys, don't meen to monopolize this post but had to add one more thing. When security escorted these two ladies out, they got a HUGE standing ovation! Maybe that's why I love this sport. When the wives/sisters/girlfriends are tougher than most guys, it does the heart of an old Warhorse like my...

Re: WWC wrestling merge into the Big 12 ?

Just a side note here to some of you fellow posters. I have been to several NCAA tournaments but must say Omaha has a special place in my heart. About 3 rows in front of me and just a little to my left, two young (college age) ladies started arguing. Not sure if they were wives/sisters/girlfriends o...
