Re: UW Block Grant Budget Amendment

Texas also passed a law banning DEI departments/initiatives at public universities in the state. At UT Austin, a much more liberal university than UW, they actually saw an increase in applications the year after the law was passed. That appears mostly to be from a bump in applications from students ...

Re: Linder leaving

Was there ever an official statement from UW reporting Linder’s resignation? The whole thing is bizarre. No statement from UW. No statement from Linder. Just an out of the blue news report one day that he is going to be an assistant at Texas Tech. I would love to know how all of this actually went d...

Re: Linder leaving

What about Eric Henderson at South Dakota State? He has been outstanding there. In his five seasons there, he has won the conference four times and finished 2nd in the lone season they didn't win it. He has guided the team to the NCAA Tournament twice. It looks like he received an extension in 2021 ...

https://7220sports.com/who-should-replace-linder-at-wyoming-here-are-some-ideas/ 7220 already up with some reporting on possible candidates, including some who are reported to be interested in the job. Steve McClain is one. So is... Doug Gottlieb? I was attending UW and working part-time as a barte...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/sec-big-ten-developing-plan-to-share-revenue-with-players-in-potential-landmark-change-to-college-athletics/ I'm sure everyone saw this but if not, revenue sharing is happening. My guess is p4 split and g5 shares go to players. They'll have to come up...

Re: Football Transfer Portal

Gavin Meyer to hit the transfer portal. I don’t understand that one. This is pure speculation, but could be more than just money/football at play with this transfer. Since he has already graduated, maybe he is looking for a specific postgrad program that UW doesn't offer? He is a good football play...

Re: 24-25 Roster

Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. When the AD gets serious about rebuilding the program, call me. 1. Fire Linder 2. Hire a coach from outside a 100-mile radius of campus and that the current AD is not buddies with a. Hire a coach that isn't a jackass b. Hire a coach that players want to play ...

Re: Spring Game Cancelled

I’m not the smartest man, but I know it’s easier to slip on a wet surface than a dry one. And slipping risks injury. If you need stats to tell you that slick surfaces are more dangerous, than there isn’t much to talk about. On a hard surface like cement or wood, I would definitely agree. However, o...

Re: 24-25 Roster

Seems like a good pickup. In his career he's a 50/36/70 shooter. Efficient player. Might be the best we can realistically hope for in a D1 transfer. I think he can contribute. Out of curiosity, I was looking at what happened with the players that were named first team all-Summit league this past se...

Re: Spring Game Cancelled

People upset that game was canceled because of weather is really bizarre. It’s spring, no need to even risk anything. For the most part, I agree with what you are saying. A couple thoughts: 1) The Wyoming coaching staff thought the Spring Game was important enough that they rescheduled it. If it wa...

Re: Spring Game Cancelled

I’m also not sure where this narrative of ‘injuries are more common when the field is wet’ comes from. I’m not aware of any data to back that claim up. As far as I know, the single greatest risk factor for a non-contact injury in football is playing on artificial turf surfaces, of which The War and ...

He never really states his reasons for believing that. It seems to me that for the cherry picking scenario to occur, it would require less tha...

Re: Conference musical chairs

After thinking about this, I'm not sure the idea of 1 umbrella will ever work. If history has taught us anything it's that some schools will eventually feel like they are carrying the weight and should recieve a larger share. We see it across and even within conferences. Greed has made college foot...

Re: Conference musical chairs

Sounds a lot like a collective bargaining agreement. I don't mind the idea of securing a media deal as one large group of universities, as long as it actually results in more money for UW. I guess it all comes down to how much money the MWC could garner for a media deal on its own. I'm not sold on t...

Re: Spring Game Cancelled

Wow. I guess we can put the "cowboy tough" slogan to rest. LOL! I am truly having a tough time swallowing the idea that 40 degrees and some precipitation was enough to cancel a Spring Game at the University of Wyoming. I could understand if the temperatures were in the single digit...

We can wish. Taco John’s is still a fairly small company. Their gross revenue in 2023 was somewhere around $110 million. Not chump change, but when you compare it to the $90.2 BILLION in revenue that FedEx had last year…not sure Taco John’s could afford it.

Re: Any new transfers?

If the UW athletic department tries to play the NIL game as it is currently played, they are going to lose that game badly. Our alumni base is relatively small and many of those alumni moved out of state and do not feel connected enough to the university to make any sort of significant monetary cont...

Re: I agree with Coach Kelsey...

While this "back alley" compensation of athletes was probably ubiquitous at larger programs across the country, I don't think it was occurring to any significant degree at UW. When compensation of college athletes became legal through NIL laws, it gave schools who already had "illegal...
