Re: OT: 2020 Cheyenne Frontier Days cancelled

Never thought I'd see such unfounded fear in a state like Wyoming. There is absolutely no evidence that the virus spreads during outdoor activities. In March, Los Angeles had 30k runners from all over the world in the marathon and no outbreak. In fact, all the outbreaks have been in indoor spaces. T...

Re: MWC Impact With 23 Cal State U. Campuses Not Reopening in the Fall?

I think there will be a football season and there will be fans. It might be necessary to retool the schedule to eliminate longer trips that can’t be done by bus ( like ball state and Louisiana). The real question is what precautions do you take with fans? Some ideas I have heard are limit ticket sa...

Re: MWC Impact With 23 Cal State U. Campuses Not Reopening in the Fall?

I basically disagree with most of this. Business people are not trying to "dismiss" this. But those on the lockdown forever side don't explain where that gets us. Meanwhile, small businesses (and large ones as well) are closing their doors forever. We understand the risks, but are willing to take t...

Re: MWC Impact With 23 Cal State U. Campuses Not Reopening in the Fall?

And they had a vaccine by the fall of 69. Why 50 years later does it take longer to develop a vaccine? Vaccines take different amounts of time depending on what you need to hit the virus as they all act and attack the body in slightly different ways. There's a serious possibility that we cannot eve...

Re: MWC Impact With 23 Cal State U. Campuses Not Reopening in the Fall?

Ok I'll bite...I keep hearing people talking about "crushing our rights" and "keeping us in an unnecessary lockdown". I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with those statements, but what is the benefit to politicians, bureaucrats, etc in extending a lockdown? I just don't see the benefit of it, why do i...

Re: 2020 Season Thoughts?

For all the reasons above, I can’t imagine how they’ll be able to have a season until a vaccine comes out. I’m guessing that means football will be 2021. Or would they consider spring football if we had a vaccine by winter?! Interesting possibility. I agree that football this year is unlikely. The ...

Re: 2020 Season Thoughts?

With how people have lost their minds, I doubt there'll be a season with fans at games. Who knows if they'll have games at all? Heck, they'll probably cite "player safety" or some similar asinine Sh#t for not playing the games. Because one life lost is too much (even though people in their late tee...

Re: COVID-19

OK, last one, I promise. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I'm only putting this information out there so you can ask your state regulators about it. Here it is broken out nicely: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6915e3.htm#T1_down Rates of hospitalization for age 18-49 = 2.5/100,000 Of ...

Re: COVID-19

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/22/no-lockdown-in-sweden-but-stockholm-could-see-herd-immunity-in-weeks.html I'm starting to think we've been duped. Why do we need parameters (i.e. 0 infections and 0 deaths) for the entire population instead of sorting the population into risk categories? If we get 0 ...

Re: COVID-19

I do think slowly opening things up but being careful will make sense in a couple of weeks or so. As much as I miss hanging out with my colleagues in person, I don't mind working from home for the next couple of months as I _can_ do that. Many people don't have that luxury, but if those of us who c...

Re: COVID-19

Not for the entire nation outside of NY What makes the rest of us physically different from New Yorkers? The study tried estimating a fatality rate - if we see a higher rate than that for a known population (that's also an order of magnitude larger than their sample size), wouldn't that suggest the...

Re: COVID-19

So, I want to see the statements of xenophobia around the travel bans, because my friend's co-workers were begging for testing of anybody who came from China or Italy before Trump closed access for people coming from China. I asked a friend on Facebook about it too after he made the same statement ...

Re: COVID-19

How do those boots taste? Every day they’re learning the infection rate is much higher and that means the hospitalization and death rates are magnitudes lower. But hey we put 20 million out of work to save a few thousand people. We’ve never made that trade before and never should. There’s barely a ...

Re: Will there be football this fall?

I completely doubt there will any sports at all until January or February of 2021. Sadly.... Eventhough the virus is natural and no one is to be blamed for it, I do think China's govt. made EVERYTHING worse than it coulda been. China? It was our own government who screwed the pooch hard, first by d...

Re: Will there be football this fall?

I was in my local King Soopers today in Fort Collins. Everyone is avoiding each other like lepers. Larimer county has only had about 50 cases and 1 death ( an 80 something female). If even 1 player gets it, everything will be cancelled.

Will there be football this fall?

According to Kirk Herbstreit, not likely. I'm afraid I agree with him.

Like this hire. Hope he hits the ground running
Absolutely. The facilities at UNC are barely above high school level. Plus, he's beat us like 3 years in a row. I'm excited about this.
