Re: Who will be back for 23-24

I would imagine for the same reason that any of our top players leave. I don't think you've missed anything. It's getting to the point that anybody that can improve thier NIL situation dramatically will do it. I confess I'm pretty naïve to what is available to the top players out there, but when yo...

Re: Setting up for the letdown?

I don't know all of the details but I do know that Ike's high post defense is a strength few bigs can match. He moves quickly and decisively to cut-off the player driving and then (with hands up) slides back to guard the big. Since many teams use the high post pick-and-roll, Ike is critical to defen...

Re: Trevon Taylor

Damn. I worry that almost everyone is gonna go. They love Edwards. You're worried about players from a seven win team leaving? Why? While fans may not mourn the loss of players from the program, there is no need to trash them after they worked so hard. Come on, show a little style and class.

Re: Happy for the team

I agree and you have to think the coaching has helped. I know most of you hate to think that way, but coaching helps. When I coached I thought the players deserved most of the credit, but when you think about the way this season was going you almost have to admit the turnaround we have seen must lea...

Re: @Air Force

It took Edwards 30 games to figure out that maybe Hendrix shouldn't be in the game firing up one brick after another. Before this game Hendrix was tied for 16th in three point attempts in the entire NCAA but only making 30%. The offense is a problem but if you watched the end of the CSU game you ca...

Re: Wyoming at San Jose St

1-15 (6.7%) from three at the half. Pathetic. I never cease shaking my head at how poorly Hunter Thompson has been developed and utilized by this staff. On the bright side, only one more month, or so, until we find out who Tommy Burman's next MBB experiment is! You can't blame lack of development o...

Re: @Nevada

This is the improvement we need to see from Edwards to give him another year. Little early in the morning to start sniffing glue. A close lose against a so so team means nothing. Plus, why was Thompson on the bench when we were on defense? He's the only big body we have. He might have accidentally ...

Re: Mens Basketball win total for 2019-20

I saw some of the same problems others noted, but I also saw an area of tremendous improvement. The coaches have brought back the defensive intensity that Larry Shyatt instilled and used as a key to success. I saw intensity on defense, improved rebounding because of positioning and work, and a much ...

Re: Non-conference schedule released

Too bad about Belt, I hate it every time we lose a kid. For the naysayers worried about softness and rebounding, you are thinking about the wrong factor. Our problem is defense--the great equalizer--and physicality. We may get a little from Maldonado but it is never enough to have one or two people ...

Re: Trace Young

He may have had potential but he was a very weak defender. Did you watch the Nevada game where he didn't even body their big guy when he was on his way to the rim and jam after jam? Nuff said.

Re: Question for someone more knowledgeable than me about bball

When you think about the defenses we play, you have to keep a few things in mind. One, the players don't always execute them well. Often, in man the less intense players get beaten on the dribble, or help when they shouldn't help. The zone relies on a lot of shifting of responsibilities out front an...

Re: Pokes vs. Grambling

If you all watch the defensive end and then the way they run their offense, you would give the coaches some love--it was nice to watch. Sometimes, chemistry and coaching take some time. I know I would much rather watch Redding, Mueller and Maldonado play than watch Dalton last year--he made so many ...

Re: Edwards Q&A

His players are constantly injured all year. That's the excuse that he's coming out with now. Fire Watsabaugh. The guy is a terrible S&C coach. This years injuries and the future injuries his up-tempo teams deal with will be due to poor conditioning. Blaming turnovers and bad shot selection for...

Re: Random Thoughts on the Fresno State Win

You should watch parts of the game again and the spacing on defense. They were able to get a hand in the face of the shooter and still sag--it isn't that hard to do when you have length and quickness--both of which Wyo has. Mostly, it takes good coaching and players responding. I think the issue is ...

Re: Call me crazy...

I remember when Cowboy fans ran off Joe Tiller because they didn't think he was good enough. Both Shyatt and Edwards are/were good enough and the proof is in the pudding. They both brought good players to Wyoming, behaved well, and got a good number of wins each season. Sure, you may not like the st...

Re: Random Thoughts on the Fresno State Win

Living up here in Pinedale, I don't get to see the Pokes as much as I would like. In fact, I was only able to pick up several minutes online today (Monday). Immediately, I saw something new on defense. The coaches made a nice adjustment and the players stuck to it. They moved back from pressure in t...
