Re: Semi-OT:long distance Amtrak

Passenger rail in the west died in the 1970's for a reason. And nothing has really changed. It's why Amtrak only exists with massive government subsidy. - Cars are cheaper and faster - Planes are about the same price and much faster - The rail lines are built for freight and suck to travel on over ...

Re: Fastest Growing High School Sport

It gets a lot of attention in my part of Colorado. Probably one of the smarter moves the wrestling "community" made. By growing the girls side of the sport, they can keep the men's sport alive because it will help colleges with their Title IX equity numbers. The next step of course it to g...

Re: Craig Bohl's Legacy

1-21 in conference over those years. How quickly folks forget I guess. Bad teams also. Bohl's are right up there against worse competition. Agreed that the early 2000's MWC was a vastly tougher conference. But those teams could hardly manage to get the right number of players on the field sometimes...

No way - the top three will always be 2000/2001/2002. I've never seen ineptitude at that level...Bohl's teams never performed like that.

Re: Craig Bohl's Legacy

That was a very painful year, although we did find a way to beat CSU 44-0 to close out the season. Bohl's first 2 years were top 5 worst Wyoming teams imo. Maybe top 3 No way - the top three will always be 2000/2001/2002. I've never seen ineptitude at that level...Bohl's teams never performed like ...

Better than Dye, Christensen, Erickson (because he left a really pissed off fan base behind), Dimel

Not as good as Tiller, Roach
Christensen was 27-35 overall or roughly .435.
I forgot how bad 2010 was.

Re: What do you guys think of Burman?

Good successes on the women's side of things. Each year we seem to have two of their teams playing very well. Nice work getting facilities upgrades, even if I'm not a personal fan of the place formerly known as The Dome of Doom. Thank god the aquatics center is underway. The men's b-ball roller coas...

Re: I find myself rooting against The Zags

The real problem is that we are running minor league professional sporting leagues through our universities. It’s a bizarre set up if you really think about it. It has been like that for a long time, but NIL is really laying bare this systems flaws. The spread in athletic budgets amongst universiti...

Re: I find myself rooting against The Zags

If we had NIL BITD, which of the following players would have transferred: - Leckner - Dembo - Slater - Q Higgins - Bailey - Udezue - Etc. Probably 75% or more. We would probably never landed Quientonia Higgins. He was a McDonald's All-American. So I don't really harbor any ill will toward Ike. How ...

Re: Conference musical chairs

But there is a HUGE downside. The fee terminates 2 years from when the contract is up on August 1 2025 (ie August 1, 2027). So come August 2, 2027, those fees go away. By doing a 2 year scheduling agreement we are basically keeping them afloat and then they could raid the conference on August 2, 20...

Re: Conference musical chairs

I find it most interesting that there are no buyouts if the PAC takes all the MWC teams.... Which makes complete sense. Why would there be a buyout if all the teams agree to merge? There would be no one to collect haha. This is what's interesting to me: - It's "affordable" to take 1 or 2 ...

Regardless of why, it's a big loss for Wyoming and great thing for USU. I'll be happy for her if she continues to play well and improve, but won't be rooting for her when we play USU.

Re: Conference musical chairs

As long as there was any hope for WSU and OSU that they would retain the megamillions sitting on the PAC-12 balance sheet there was zero chance they would join any conference, or leave the PAC 12-10=2 Now that they have control of that money officially, they will not make any move until their two ye...

Re: Jay Sawvel named head coach

On the topic of "the last time we hired the DC as our head coach": Hiring Vic was actually pretty well received. He was clearly good at his job, and was at a stage in his career that it made sense. Most people were pretty happy. Of course, he didn't prove to have the network needed to hire...
