Re: OT: 2020 Cheyenne Frontier Days cancelled

Looks like Cody is pushing back on this. Trying to find a way to get their nightly rodeo up and going and still hold the Stampede and the Xtreme Bull Riding competition. Powell Tribune Article Here's the big thing from that story that applies to CFD: The state is limiting events to 250 people until...

Re: OT: 2020 Cheyenne Frontier Days cancelled

It looks like the big headliners may have had a lot to do with it.

Eric Church - no shows since 2019. Nothing on the schedule until Aug. 7.

Blake Shelton - no shows since February. Nothing on his schedule at all.

Re: MWC Impact With 23 Cal State U. Campuses Not Reopening in the Fall?

Yeah, the NCAA is planning to kill off a large part of their membership, and pro sports leagues are going to go out of business, and everyone is trying to get into the worst depression in history, to get at the president.

Re: MWC Impact With 23 Cal State U. Campuses Not Reopening in the Fall?

You would have to assume that the CS system would not allow in-person attendance at games. With that: - MWC plays without the three Cal State schools. Some teams play each other twice - MWC plays with the three Cal State schools, but reworks the schedule to keep those schools in California and Nevad...

Re: Wyoming Adds Cal Poly to 2024 Football Schedule

The actual play and actual results on the field that year was one of the worst college football teams I witnessed. VK also had some terrible teams and some of DCs were bad. None were as bad as that 2015 team. Statistically or "eye test". The 2012 team finished about 20 spots higher and had double t...

real stupid to get rid of the parking lot there
In practical terms, yes. But I bet they figured the land generates more money with the new buildings on it. At least that's why there are fewer surface lots around Denver every year.

Re: Matching Funds for West Side War and Pool

The oil down turn is independent of the virus. And honestly, while an epidemic certainly is not what I had in mind, the lack of developing more economically in Wyoming is just going to hurt even more as time goes on. Relying on the old "Boom & Bust" thing needs to be left behind. And already, coal ...

The blame game is partisanship.
Yup. Pointing fingers while in the middle of a sh#t[#] does no one any good. Band together to get out of the sh#t[#] and save the blame and pissing matches for after.
Hopefully the people running the press conferences agree.

The timing is interesting, given that Linder has now had time to speak with all the players individually. Either coach doesn't see them as a fit, or they didn't like what he had to say. Both are fine with me.

Re: Matching Funds for West Side War and Pool

The conference meets are done, and Our Cowgirls placed 3rd in the MWC behind SDSU and UNLV. Looking at the results, it seems we have focused in a some smart areas for a smaller team (distance, relays, diving), and that paid off. Our Cowboys were 4th in the WAC, behind two MWC schools (AFA and UNLV)...

Re: LA Bowl Launched

This is good news, especially with us losing the Vegas Bowl.

So, MWC champ vs. PAC qualifier. I predict we keep this affiliation only until the bowl is established and they move on to another conference ala:
Holiday Bowl
Poinsettia Bowl
Las Vegas Bowl

Re: Matching Funds for West Side War and Pool

If the athletics department was realistic, they would have separated the swimming pool (which is perhaps more of a need) from the stands (which is a want). In addition, the athletics department is fully capable of private funding if it finds the stands to be a necessity. For some reason I remember ...

Looks as though at least 9 other conference members voted to "rescind" the notion of ending Boise State's bonus payout in return for Boise State dropping the lawsuit. SDSU publicly held its ground. I hope we did the same.
Did they also cave to Boise on increasing the amount of that bonus?

My 1st year in school 88, remember being part of the goalpost down Grand to the Buck...against UTEP, cold day That was a great day. We just demolished them in all phases. That was after we'd lost to Houston, so it felt like a return to normalcy. Sadly, Barry Sanders and Hart Lee Dykes didn't think ...

Re: MWC Finalizes $270M Media Rights Deal With CBS Sports, Fox

Thompson probably should not have said anything, that wasn't smart politics. Boise had to come out with a snippy statement in order to appear strong and placate their supporters. They have a lot of money from donors dependent upon their perceived position in the football world, even if they know the...
