I found the answer. The WNIT is the new CBI.
Women’s basketball now has the WBIT which is the new 2nd best tournament.

Cowgirls in WNIT
Congrats to the team on the invite and good luck!
But how does a 16-14 team who collapsed at the end of the season get an invite? This is perplexing.

Re: How to End NIL?
Nil does need to end. I could see the title IX argument working. Odd they’ve used title IX for all sorts of things except when a dude is swimming on the girls team. on cue! a group of like women athletes suing for title IX violations. https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/15/sport/ncaa-title-ix-violations-tr...

Re: How to End NIL?
It is a title ix issue if the university is working closely with the collective. Define working closely with and how they are preferentially favoring men other than marketplace value. Men in non-revenue sports have the same value as women. It's free market. It might destroy but it's free market. Th...

Re: How to End NIL?
The players won’t give up anything. But what they are doing is actually moving the needle in the direction of less opportunities for student athletes in future years because schools will begin dropping athletics. While I’m all for the free market, Title IX decisions have been pretty clear that equa...

Re: How to End NIL?
I don’t think any one is arguing that we should prevent businesses from actually using athletes’ likeness for legitimate business marketing purposes. Collectives have nothing to do with marketing. They are simply a vehicle for boosters to funnel money to college athletes wholly unrelated to actual ...

Re: NIL
I'm guessing most of you are aware of One Wyo. https://1wyo.org/ The director was interviewed on Ryan Thorburg's Pokescast just a few days ago. Athletes must donate time to charity to receive the NIL funds. Seems reasonable to me. If we want to be competitive, then NIL is going to be a big part of ...

Nil does need to end. I could see the title IX argument working. Odd they’ve used title IX for all sorts of things except when a dude is swimming on the girls team. Yeah I agree. Why shouldn't athletes make money off their name and image? They have been getting screwed for decades with schools and ...

Re: NIL
On a somewhat related note - kudos to the Wyoming donors for coming together and raising real money for the families of the swimmers. Hopefully there won’t be a need for a similar fund drive in the future, but causes to actually help people will continue to get my money.

Re: NIL
No clue. I have literally seen nothing for it. Is it still active? Haven’t heard much about it either. That leads me to believe there isn’t much going on with it. I believe that they are actively working with a handful of high dollar donors. My belief is mostly to make ‘charitable’ gifts to real ch...

Re: NIL
My NIL donation will remain at $0. I could care less to pay 18-22 year olds so they can have nice cars. I’d rather move to D2.
But there are some interesting lawsuits coming down the pike. I hope they are successful.

Re: Trending in the Wrong Direction
You could be on to something. Is Linder hoping to get fired and cash in on the large contract buyout? He can then go wherever he wants and take pretty much any job he wants because of the money he will inevitably receive from Wyoming. I’d have to think he would have too much pride but his comments ...

Re: Trending in the Wrong Direction
Because last year was such a trainwreck, I think I felt somewhat relieved that this year's team wasn't as bad. But in reality, it was still a pretty awful result. Another losing season and not really competitive with the better teams in the conference. As others have posted, we will basically start...

Re: Big 12 Championships
Volk gets the 5 seed! Faces Harvard in 1st round. In second round could face 12 seed Noto of Lock Haven who should have been more like a 6 seed. 125 is the most open bracket I’ve ever seen in college wrestling. 20 different guys could win it. Some really dumb seeding this year at the NCAAs. Noto is...

Re: Trending in the Wrong Direction
I agree with a lot of what you say. I do disagree on volleyball. That program is on this rise. I’m skeptical whether we will be able to keep Coach Prigge for long. We just lost our women’s soccer coach to St Louis. Huge hit to a surprising program she built. In wrestling, I hope Volk wins it this ye...

Manyawu got a total of 8 minutes. He can’t show up if he doesn’t play. That’s definitely on Linder! I’m thinking he is in the portal as soon as it opens.

I’ve never heard anything but praises from folks who know DuSell personally. A common theme I heard with him was ‘selfless.’Congrats to him, hopes he pulls a shocker and knocks off USU!

Re: Fresno - twice in a row
The offseason will be interesting. Looking forward to seeing where Wenzel and Manyawu end up and our big transfer coming in from Oklahoma Panhandle State. I gotta say Ore you are as pessimistic about something as I’ve ever seen. I know. It’s not like me. Sitting behind Linder at home games for 4 ye...

Re: 24-25 Roster
Schroyer had 7 conference wins in his best year. Linder had 8 this season. Allen Edwards won 2 tournament games in a year they went 9-24 overall. Y'all need to take a deep breath and come down off the ceiling. I'm not saying Linder is it, but I am saying that it's WAY premature to be talking about ...
