Re: Most accomplished WYO sport in past decade?

The OP asked what the most accomplished sport at UW is. Not most accomplished of FB,BB or VB, disregarding any other sport for any reason. I would also argue that having fewer teams makes those teams stronger. Nothing is “watered down.” Can you imagine how good the NFL teams would be if there were ...

Re: Name you don't know but will...

I'm hopeful we see one of the TEs break out with awesome receiving numbers. To me they've always seemed the most underutilized guys on the team. I don't expect us to suddenly be one of the most productive passing offenses in the MW, but there's plenty of room for improvement. Welch is pretty good. ...

Re: Name you don't know but will...

Ralph Fawaz. Punter and kickoffs. Yea it seems pretty lame naming a punter but the team is extremely deep with experience. Fawaz appears to have the leg the Pokes have been missing the last few years. It’s been frustrating playing against teams with punters that could shift the field position while ...

Re: Most accomplished WYO sport in past decade?

We finish second in our conference nearly every year behind national powerhouse csu. More consistent than wrestling This doesn’t seem accurate to me. I recall the 2019 season’(which was great) but don’t recall the volleyball team being in the top 2 in the conference other years. we are as often sec...

Re: Most accomplished WYO sport in past decade?

Wrestling and it’s probably not particularly close. Volleyball, womens soccer, women’s basketball, men’s basketball (Nance Jr.), football (2016) have all had a good season or two but wrestling has consistently been a top 25 program. I can’t say that I’ve followed swimming much but I don’t recall top...

Chris Stutzreim. He made some big plays when it mattered and forever will go down in Poke lore.

We better spank MT State or I will be discouraged
Montana State will have more insight into our team. If Vigen can’t find a way to keep it semi-close (3 TDs) then he really isn’t much of a coach.

Re: Way too early W/L Football Prediction Thread

7-5. Losses to AF, Northern Illinois, Utah State, SJ, and Boise. I wish I had the optimism some of you guys show year in and year out on these things. Seems like every year a significant portion of our fans think we're gonna win 10 games. I just don't get that. I’ve never predicted 10 wins that I c...

Re: Way too early W/L Football Prediction Thread

Deepest team since I started following the Pokes in the mid 90s. I honestly think this team can win 10 regular season games and that’s where I have them.

Re: Women's Hoops...

The women’s team made a hell of a run in the MWC tourney but let’s take a step back. During the regular season, the team had some head scratching losses. I’m not going to look at one postseason run and conclude that Gerald is a better coach and a better fit for the program than Legerski. Let’s be ho...

Re: After 1 year of college athletics, any heart cases?

https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/31275391/study-shows-less-1-covid-infected-college-athletes-developed-heart-issues This was studied. Covid apparently caused myocarditis in 0.7% of athletes. Is 0.7% an acceptable rate? I don't know. Seems that the protocols worked for those 0.7% by lar...

Walk-on RB Brenton to Transfer

Brenton is transferring to D2 Northern State. He has been a big contributor the past few years with injuries at RB. With the group coming back healthy and absent a scholarship, can’t blame him at all. Best of luck at Northern State to him!

Re: Nate Weinman

I’ll never fault an athlete that makes the decision to step away and focus on academics. Football will not pay the bills for the vast majority of players. I faced a similar decision many years ago (although I was athletically not even in the stratosphere of a D1 scholarship player). I chose academic...

Re: 2022 QB Commit - Caden Becker

Did northern Illinois get a new coaching staff? Or did Cade just decide to switch commitments just because Northern Illinois has basically the same staff that it has had since January 2019 when they hired Hammock as HC. I am a bit skeptical when a HS junior commits to a program so early and then sw...

Good news. I didn't know wrestlers got an extra year. Didn't they get an extra year last year too? No. Last year counted because only the NCAAs were cancelled. It's a bummer Montorie moved on with his life. We could have had him this year and next year! Hold on. Won't next year be the third year in...
