Re: Sawvel to open up practice
Bohl started Peasley because Peasley had more experience and came to Wyoming when Bohl desperately needed a quarterback. Peasley played despite being injured and was leader so Bohl stayed with him.

Re: How to End NIL?
I view NIL as opening up a very real possibility of players who are playing in a school's uniform but actually employed by a different entity or person. My prediction is things will get a lot messier for several years before anyone really figures out what needs to be done.

Re: Semi-OT:long distance Amtrak
Passenger rail in the west died in the 1970's for a reason. And nothing has really changed. It's why Amtrak only exists with massive government subsidy. - Cars are cheaper and faster - Planes are about the same price and much faster - The rail lines are built for freight and suck to travel on over ...

Re: Jay Sawvel named head coach
I love the idea of the coach lifting together with the players. It builds team unity and and an understanding that the work is expected from everyone.

Re: How to End NIL?
Interesting scenario. At one point, I think some of the highest paid individual athletes in terms of NIL were actually female. Gymnasts I think. But I suspect most of this money came from outside collectives. Correct that a gymnast from LSU was a high earner. But the aggregate of funds is nowhere c...

Re: Semi-OT:long distance Amtrak
That was the Treagle Train, sponsored for one game a year by the Cheyenne Tribune and Eagle newspapers. Before my time being old enough to join that rolling party. I guess there were guys too drunk by the time they got to Laramie to make it to the game. With newspaper economies being what they are ...

Re: Crum and Gibbs to NFL Combine
Crum weighed in at 315 and then ran the 2nd fastest 40 of all offensive linemen at 4.94. He is going to be skyrocketing up draft boards. More likely his performance during the season and at the Hula Bowl practices will decided whether he gets drafted. The combine may have gotten him an endorsement ...

Re: Semi-OT:long distance Amtrak
I would be shocked if this happens anytime in the near future. Spending money on infrastructure is no longer something voters in this country put any value on. Politicians know this and steer clear of infrastructure plans, especially long-term ones, in their campaigns. Instead, they focus on the th...

Re: 2024 Mountain West Football Schedules
The UWAA wants to make Homecoming the last game in Sept. So it will either be AFA or SDSU. I've got a big problem with this. Homecoming has ALWAYS been in mid October. The day I was born the doc was pissed my mom went into labor because he had tickets for the game. Didn't feel right last year when ...

Re: UW Block Grant Budget Amendment
How many students is that? 5? 10? Not being a jerk but from a practical standpoint, I doubt lack of women's studies impacts UW that much. Most likely those that are interested in Women's Studies AND UW will just pick another major. I might be wrong but I seriously doubt UW was pulling a lot of stud...

Re: Playoff negotiations
NFL ownership has to be laughing all the way to the bank. Major college programs are falling all over themselves to spend on a developmental league for the NFL and the owners are having to foot any of the bills.

Re: UW Block Grant Budget Anendment
From a distance, it looks as though the Wyoming legislature is poised to do away with the notion of a block grant for the university. This would mean that, in future budget cycles, the university would have to present its budget like any other agency, and be subject to line item approvals by the le...

Re: Giles moving on
Cody is reporting that we've hired Jeff Phelps to replace Oscar. Jeff was at NDSU, Mississippi State and Wazzu (with Mike Leach) and Minnesota previously. Hope he's a great hire. Phelps was on the same staffs as Sawvel at Minnesota and Northern Illinois. Feels like he may have been brought on to ha...
