The Pokes are looking to build on their 8-6 season which included hosting the Mountain West Championship game and Poinsettia Bowl appearance. Here are some news and notes from the opening practice for head coach Craig Bohl.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There is good injury news as DB Andrew Wingard, OT Ryan Cummings and DE Carl Granderson who each missed spring ball due to injury were full participants in the opening practice of fall camp.<\/li>\n<li>The tight end position was productive in the first practice with Austin Fort, Josh Harshman and Tyree Mayfield\u00a0all catching passes with the first team offense quarterbacked by Josh Allen.<\/li>\n<li>Two particular offensive positions to keep an eye on are running back and wide receiver where the Cowboys are looking to replace all time leading rusher Brian Hill and the tandem of Tanner Gentry and Jake Maulhardt at WR.<\/li>\n<li>The coaching staff introduced a new set of practice periods at the end of practice designed to help in player development. The last four periods were designed just for freshman players new to the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Quotable<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI think we\u2019re certainly further along in our fourth year, and we look like a more mature football team.
