The Cowboys picked up a verbal commitment this past week with the addition of Rochester, Illinois, wide receiver Avante’ Cox. \u00a0Now we see yet another Illinois kid\u00a0come into the fold, as well as a second Badger state prospect.<\/p>\n
Joining Cox from Illinois is C.J. Coldon, the 6’1″, 175-pound corner back out of Belleville (IL) Althoff Catholic who gave his verbal to Wyoming on December 11th. \u00a0A couple days later we see Javaree Jackson, the 6’5″, 250-pound defensive end\/defensive tackle out of Wauwatosa (WI) West add his name to the Wyoming commitment list.<\/p>\n
Coldon was offered back on March 9th. \u00a0He selected the Cowboys over offers from New Mexico, Bowling Green, Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois and Western Illinois.<\/p>\n
Coldon visited Laramie on his official visit back on December 3rd for the Mountain West Championship game against San Diego State. \u00a0His lead recruiter was safeties coach Curt Mallory.<\/p>\n
The Althoff star had 58 receptions for 965-yards receiving and 12 total touchdowns on the season for the 11-1 Crusaders.<\/p>\n
Jackson was offered by the coaching staff shortly after his visit to Laramie during the weekend of December 2nd-4th.<\/p>\n
He selected the Cowboys over interest from Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin, Missouri State, North Dakota State and Western Illinois.<\/p>\n
Jackson played defensive end for the Wauwatosa West Trojans but looks to either be a defensive end or even a defensive tackle at the next level.<\/p>\n
His lead recruiter was offensive coordinator\/quarterback coach Brent Vigen. \u00a0Jackson is the second verbal from the State of Wisconsin, joining offensive tackle Alonzo Velazquez out of Janesville.<\/p>\n
Jackson helped lead the Trojans to a 6-4 record and a playoff berth this past season. \u00a0He also participates in both basketball and track and field for West.<\/p>\n
When it came to picking Wyoming, this is what Jackson had to say:\u00a0“My parents and I had been talking for awhile and they said that this would be a good home for me. \u00a0I feel the coaches really care about the players and they were really easy to talk to when you needed someone to talk to,” said the Wisconsin defender.<\/p>\n
“I definitely paid attention to their season and saw the success they had.”<\/p>\n
Coldon is one of the highest-rated prospects to pick the Pokes and was rated as a 3-Star prospect by both Rivals and Scout. \u00a0Jackson has yet to be rated by the recruiting services.<\/p>\n
