The Cowboys have now landed their second running back of the 2017 recruiting class in 6’0″, 175-pound Lacey (WA) River Ridge speedster Trey Dorfner. Dorfner joins 5’11”, 185-pound Xazavian Valladay from Chicago (IL) Brother Rice. Valladay committed to the Cowboys back on the 12th of October.<\/p>\n

Dorfner was offered by Wyoming back on May 28th and this past Saturday (30-28 victory over #13 Boise State) was his first visit to Laramie.\u00a0 That lone visit was all he needed in making his future college selection.<\/p>\n

“Wyoming is just a very good fit for me.\u00a0 The love, the atmosphere, and the style of play (pro-style) were big.\u00a0 Loved everything and this place is just where I want to be”, said River Ridge star.<\/p>\n

“I’m going to get there and compete. It is going to be exciting!”<\/p>\n

The lead recruiter for Dorfner was defensive line coach Pete Kaligis.\u00a0 He selected the Cowboys over Weber State who also had offered.<\/p>\n

As a junior, Dorfner rushed for 1,157 and 11 touchdowns on a shortened season.\u00a0 He averaged 193 yards rushing per game for the Hawks.\u00a0 So far as a senior, he has rushed for 996 yards on 123 carries and 19 touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Wyoming is likely looking to only take two running backs in this class with Dorfner and Valladay in the fold.<\/p>\n

He was rated as a 2-star by Scout and 247 Sports.<\/p>\n
