Wyoming wrestler Tanner Harms was named one of the Big 12 Student-Athletes of the year today by the conference. Harms, a senior from Greenwood Village, CO, just completed his Cowboy wrestling career. He finished one match out of All-American status at the NCAA tournament in March. Harms is majoring in mechanical engineering at Wyoming.<\/p>\n

Harms was one of eight student athletes to earn the honor. From the Big 12 wrestling he shared the honor with Air Force’s Adam Jackson.<\/p>\n

Tanner Harms finished his Wyoming wrestling career with a 63-30 record. He had 18 pins, including the two he racked up at the NCAA tournament. As a senior he went 22-6. The Cowboys has a team took three competitors to New York and finished 18th, their best finish since 1996. This was the debut year for the Pokes wrestling in the Big 12.<\/p>\n

Mark Branch had this to say<\/a>, \u201cThis is a great honor and he has been a great representative of our program. This sums up his career as a total package as a student-athlete. We are very excited that he has chosen to go to graduate school here at the University of Wyoming as he will be a huge asset to our program.\u201d<\/p>\n
