Laramie is located 45 miles from Cheyenne, WY, the state capitol, 145 miles from Denver, CO, and 65 miles from Fort Collins, CO. The University of Wyoming boasts one of the best engineering programs in the Western United States, housed under one of the biggest educational buildings on campus. The University recently underwent a remodel to make it more of a walking\/biking campus by eliminating many of the paved roads located within the campus to make it safer for the students walking to and from class. They also run a shuttle service from the stadium to campus for anyone living outside of the campus area. Sitting at 7200 feet often takes it’s toll on incoming freshman, especially those not from Wyoming, so staying in shape is often not a challenge in Laramie, but in case it is, there is a large workout facility located next to the Student Union. Prexy’s Pasture is where students gather to soak up the sun, play frisbee and football, and get to class, as it’s one of the most highly traveled parts of campus. Laramie features a great nightlife, with many bars and restaurants downtown to keep things interesting for students.<\/p>\n
\n
The residence halls at UW are the most densely populated area of Wyoming. 2500 live in the dorm area.<\/li>\n
War Memorial Stadium becomes the 3rd largest city in Wyoming when filled.
