After picking up two more verbal commitments within the last couple of days, the Cowboys pick up their 15th verbal in Oak Park (IL) Oak Park-River cornerback Keyon Blankenbaker.   This is the fourth verbal coach Craig Bohl and staff have landed from the Land of Lincoln for the 2017 recruiting class.

The 5’10”, 170-pound speedster was offered by Wyoming back on March 11th.  He picked the Cowboys over offers from Cincinnati, Central Michigan, Buffalo and North Dakota State.

Blankenbaker visited Laramie officially back on the weekend of December 2nd for the Mountain West Championship game against San Diego State.

What was it that helped Wyoming to pick up a commitment from Blankenbaker?

“I decided on Wyoming because after going on my visit I felt the home feeling, the team and what the coaches brought.  The game atmosphere (Mountain West Championship) was outstanding and you could tell the program is rising,” said Oak Park native.

He helped the Huskies to a 7-3 record and a playoff appearance this past season.   His lead recruiter for the Cowboys was safeties coach Curt Mallory.

Scout and 247 Sports ranked Blankenbaker as a 2-Star prospect.
